How Did Scrooge Grow Up In A Christmas Carol
I grew up in thirty days. I was eleven and had to learn how to survive without my family, to keep up with school work without the benefit of a teacher, and to manage my own finances. As a child, my parents would read the story of A Christmas Carol to me. The protagonist, Scrooge, is a man who lost his sense of kindness and just needs to look inside himself to find the good that is in everyone. I was given the opportunity to play the role of Belinda Cratchit on Nebraska Theatre Caravan’s Midwest production of A Christmas Carol. This would mean I would miss two months of school due to rehearsal and performance. I would also be away from my family for thirty days. I traveled with professional actors on buses and stayed in hotels around Midwest

The question is really asking which line in A Christmas Carol supports the quote "'I wish,' Scrooge muttered, putting his hand in his pocket, and looking about him, after drying his eyes with his cuff: 'but it's too late now.'" Choice (1) is not the correct answer choice. The quote from Choice (1) was said by the Ghost of Christmas Past. The Spirit was showing Scrooge all the Christmases he has celebrated earlier in his life. However, the quote mentioned in the question implies that Scrooge is regretting something. Choice (1) doesn't fulfill the meaning of that quote, which is why it is not the correct answer choice. Choice (2) doesn't support the meaning of the quote either. The quote stated in Choice (2) shows Scrooge being anxious with the…

I think the best scene that illustrates the journey to a new self is when the ghost of Christmas future puts Scrooge in a grave, and makes him have to promise that he will change. First the spirit shows Scrooge the bed where he is laying at the moment. “Tell me what man that was, with the covered face, whom we saw lying dead?” Then the spirit takes Scrooge to his own grave where it starts sinking and Scrooge is falling inside. In the grave, Scrooge makes a promise. “I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.” “I will not shut out the lessons that they teach.”…

Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” paints a bleak world of 19th century industrial society with the stark division of classes. Despite this miserable, poverty stricken setting, Dickens portrays a range of characters that have been affected by this social cataclysm, illustrating each of their responses to it in order to illuminate what the important things in life are, and how they can be measured through non tangible sources. The Cratchit family act as an accurate epitome of the values that are family and gratitude, whilst Fezziwig is the antithesis to Scrooge as an employer and measures the important things in his life on the basis of his employees’ satisfaction. Through humanizing Scrooge, Dickens develops a connection between him and his past, realizing that his forgotten self was the important thing in his life, ultimately measuring it through the amount of remorse he has now.…

‘A Christmas Carol’ is a short powerful novel written by Charles Dickens in 1843 and tells the story of how one man, Ebeneezer Scrooge, changes his ways from a cruel, money-obsessed miser to a good, honest Christian after terrifying visitations from three ghosts. During this period, Victorian readers were thoroughly convinced of the supernatural and omnipotent power of God, making this oval socially embraced through the population. Arguably, this novel was a way to generate awareness about the lives of the poor, true to Dickens’ philanthropic philosophy, as many upper class families would read the book and show compassion for the terrible conditions they were living in. At this time, poverty was predominant in London so the Poor Law was put in place so that each parish had to give money to its poor. However, many were still forced to go to workhouses and work in the terrible conditions for long hours in exchange for meagre amounts of food, resulting in many poor dying anyway- a consequence that both Scrooge and the victorian reader has to witness in Stave 4 with the death of Tiny Tim caused by poverty.…

Then I joined the Parkview theatre. As far as I could tell, everyone had seen this amazing musical except me. Lacking funds, I could not get the soundtrack. I’d not even heard any of the music until I joined Chelsea and Colleen’s skit of “What is This Feeling?” (Odd correlation, this song twice being my first introduction to the musical). I was blown away by how energetic and powerful the song was when I first heard in full, and scurried as fast as I could to the internet to look it up. Needless to say, I started to really want to see this musical. I had given up conviction of ever getting a chance to see it, though, since I had neither the time nor the money; then, a beacon of hope alighted upon my spirit: I was going to see Wicked at the Fox. That day, I saw Heaven in all of its glory, and I can confidently say that when I die, I am going to Oz…on stage.…

    Sweeney Todd Stereotypes

It took a serious amount of time to get to the point of no return. But when it happened, wonders occurred. It was my greatest role so far. I am also a bass singer so playing a bass lead was extraordinary for me. I hope that when I’m older that I will get to play the role again. I chose Sweeney Todd as my artistic experience that stands out because not many teenagers get to do a show like Sweeney Todd while they are in high school. Despite all the stereotypes of the show, I wanted Sweeney Todd to be realistic to the audience. I wanted the audience to truly pity everything this Sweeney went through and all he lost throughout the show. He was the first anti- hero I ever got to play. There was so much background work that had to be done on this character that I overanalyzed the entire script. The character allowed me to finally realize that acting isn’t really acting. It is the ability to respond to other actors and interact with other actors based on scenarios a character is put in. Acting isn’t supposed to be comfortable and Sweeney Todd helped me realize that. It’s the ability to act appropriately or even inappropriately when faced with an uncomfortable situation. The situation I was given was so large that it took me three months of work to finally accept what Sweeney had to face. I experienced more emotionally with that character than any other character I’ve played. It was the most work I’ve ever put into a character. Becoming my…

In the story A Christmas Carol , my reaction changed towards Scrooge through each stave. In the first opening stave, you felt as if Scrooge was an inconsiderate, horrible man. Throughout the rest of the staves you start to feel bad for Scrooge and almost forgive him. Also his past reflects his personality in the future. This influences my reaction towards Scrooge as Dickens uses contradicting and contrasting techniques. The moral I received was; dickens is trying to convey to the reader is that you can always be forgiven for what you have done in the past.…
