It took a serious amount of time to get to the point of no return. But when it happened, wonders occurred. It was my greatest role so far. I am also a bass singer so playing a bass lead was extraordinary for me. I hope that when I’m older that I will get to play the role again. I chose Sweeney Todd as my artistic experience that stands out because not many teenagers get to do a show like Sweeney Todd while they are in high school. Despite all the stereotypes of the show, I wanted Sweeney Todd to be realistic to the audience. I wanted the audience to truly pity everything this Sweeney went through and all he lost throughout the show. He was the first anti- hero I ever got to play. There was so much background work that had to be done on this character that I overanalyzed the entire script. The character allowed me to finally realize that acting isn’t really acting. It is the ability to respond to other actors and interact with other actors based on scenarios a character is put in. Acting isn’t supposed to be comfortable and Sweeney Todd helped me realize that. It’s the ability to act appropriately or even inappropriately when faced with an uncomfortable situation. The situation I was given was so large that it took me three months of work to finally accept what Sweeney had to face.
