One of the many things that are different now from when Shakespeare was around is fashion. People dressed different. They dressed weird but to them that was the way it was. If you had layers of clothing it showed how wealthy, you were. Color described what class you were. Purple for example was very expensive so only people like the queen would wear it. Now we just put some jeans and a shirt on and call it good, though there is a way to classify someone from a lower class to a higher class. Women couldn't act, go to school, or choose who they wanted to marry. In Shakespeare's time women couldn't act. It was so serious that they even had a law about it. We have lots of women actors now. Some are even more successful than the men. Now we have things like protesting to get paid the same amount as men. At one point women couldn't even vote. Women didn't have much say in anything back then.
The biggest difference from then was the way they spoke. The way they spoke was more complex and breathless. It took a while to get to the point. Now a day we have slangs and abbreviations for everything. Even the word slang is a slang. Back then it was more respectful. They would pronounce things in a way that made them seem intelligent.
