One of the most risky things that people would do in order to help the slaves would be to participate in the Underground Railroad. This is were slaves would be hidden in people's homes beneath floorboards, or behind walls so that way they would have a safe place to eat and sleep until it was clear enough to move onto the next house that participated in the Underground Railroad (Crew). Slaves would continue going from house to house every chance they got, hoping they would not get caught and that they would eventually make it back up to a slave free state.
