How Did The American Revolution Affect How We Live Today

Throughout history, people have constantly debated about the most significant events that have shaped the entire world and affected how we live today. American colonies lived under English rule in the early 1600s due to the establishment of the Jamestown colony in Virginia in 1607. Over 150 years, England made 13 colonies along the eastern coast, and what is now part of the United States. The American Revolution sparked several factors that shaped England as what people know today. The British declared unfair taxes on the colonies, utterly making them deprived of their economic freedom. Events such as the Stamp Act and Townshend Acts taxed the colonies without their consent. The consistent pattern of taxes increased the tension, leading to the uprising of another activist group called the Sons and Daughters of Liberty. The daughters of liberty made homemade versions of goods imported by Britain, showing how England was just fine without Britain's help. They spun their clothing and made their tea, supporting boycotting. The sons of liberty helped push colonists towards independence with resistance to British rule by spreading ideas of self-governing, training militias and more (Grubber). The protests did end up letting the Townshend Act get repealed in the year 1770 yet the tax on tea remained as a symbol, later on leading to the Boston Tea Party. America declaring independence from England had several factors to it, that being the Stamp Act, Townshend Act, the several protests, and Thomas Paine's writings on trade that helped shape America and England as we know it today.
