not to be a change
The Black Plague was spread by not only the rats but the Mongolians who brought the rats back with them when they destroyed the city of “...” by catapulting an infected man into the city walls. The plague was spread by fleas and rats: “The plague started by bacteria carried by fleas that lived on black rats, when the rats died off the fleas went to the humans.” If one had the infection, they needed to go to the doctors immediately for a diagnosis because death from the plague can happen within three days. Classic symptoms from the disease included: “A general feeling of sickness, high fever, chills, headaches, delirium, helplessness, hemorrhages under skin, darkened skin on the hands and legs, painful or tender swollen lymph nodes, white coating on the tongue, and marked sensitivity to light.” Most of the population believed that if they confessed their sins to God it would cause the plague to skip over them. Many also thought the Jews had something to do with the plague because not as many Jews were affected, so they killed them, until they realized the Jews weren't the problem. People thought the Black Plague was only one plague, but today people believe it was more than one plague, but they all had similar symptoms. The population in Europe and England had the idea that the plague affected the peasants or lower income people, but then realized it wasn't a biased plague, it also killed many royals, priest, and clergy men as well.
After the Black Plague the society changed tremendously, people started caring more for themselves than others, the population believed against God, and the social order changed.
The aftermath of the Black Plague greatly affected society and human behaviors: “The horrors of the Black Death had a dramatic impact on human behavior and psychology.
In England, the numbers of homicides doubled between 1349 and 1369, compared with the number between 1320 and 1340, despite the one-third decrease in population.” Prior to the Black Plague, art portrayed love and kindness, but almost immediately after the plague occurred art changed drastically, to reflect death and judgement. If the plague never happened both the downfall of feudalism and the “unchallenged” catholic church would have been prolonged. After the Black Plague people starting doing things for themselves and values changed: “People seemed to be left with the feeling that doing their duty and obeying the laws of church and state was no guarantee of security or stability, They believed that human beings were no longer God’s favored creatures, and many began to put themselves and their own interests first.” After the plagues the surviving peasants thought they had been spared their life, and changed their way of thinking, which later contributed to many changes for peasants. Many people believed that the Jews created the plague, just to get rid of christians. This belief lead to many persecutions and homicides of innocent Jews. Some were even captured and tortured until they confessed it was them who poisoned the water. The prices of resources increased as well peasant wages. The black death caused many things to generally change in societies: “ Society at their cores crumbled, demographics changed, and even empires disintegrated due to the Black Plague.” After the plague many people had gave up their trust in God, but soon realized that there was nothing the religion could have done to stop the spreading of the plague. The social order was also changed, instead of the nobles being the “richest” the middle class was growing, and were associated with trade and expanding prosperity. During the
plague instead of helping anyone who needed help before and working together, everyone's views on working for the collective changed to just helping themselves and no one else.
If the Black Plague never happened the economy today wouldn't have as evolved farming ideas and theories, luxurious items and currency change would still be the same as it was before the plague, and wages wouldn't have increased for peasants. Many people gave up on the manorial farming system, ending it, and concentrated on using most of the land, which in return created the regrowth of grassland and forests that had been cut down and wildlife would flourished. Farming technology wouldn't be as sophisticated as it is today, feudalism still would have crashed over time but would be prolonged, Europe would continue to have issues with famine and overpopulation: “The dramatic change in the farming processes led to increased production of wool and cloth. Peasants from villages migrated to towns and cities, leading to the downfall of the Feudal System. Peasants became disillusioned with the church, and the church's power to lead and influence was undermined, creating the opportunity for the English Reformation.”
Many people wanted to have more luxurious items and businesses were fast to take advantage of people wanting luxurious items. This brought, the invention of underwear to life. When the prices of everything came down, there was too much money for the people living, so everyone went crazy buying everything they couldn't normally afford with ease. Once people started wanting more luxurious items, the currency had to change and so did the trade, into more expensive valuables. If the Plague never happened, wages would not have increased, land would not have become cheaper, and individuals would not be needed. Even after the plague there was an overload of goods, but since most of the population died there were few who could buy the goods. Farming technology wouldn't be as sophisticated as it is today, feudalism still would have crashed over time but would have been prolonged, Europe would continue to have issues with famine and overpopulation. If the Black Plague never happened the population in Europe and England would still be sub taneously over populated, education in science and medicine would not be as sophisticated as it is today. Before the Black Plague, not many people had a higher level of education, like college, but after the plague all knowledge was forgotten, lost, but several people suddenly had an interest for education. As people started to get interested with education, science became a more prominent subject: “By the 1380s knowledge of anatomy was fairly accurate, and the emphasis began to shift from theoretical to practical knowledge. As a result, the scientific method of postulating a theory and then feasting it through observation was developed, which opened the way for a professional approach to medicine and to scientific investigation in later countries.” Many larger cities had poor sanitary and living conditions that were very cramped, which helped spread the plague and kill off three-quarters of the population. In Europe and England the plague was not just spread through larger cities or cities, but where the trade routes went. Studies show that after the plague destroyed most of the population in Europe, Europeans seemed to live longer.
The third way to prove Reason 3- #2, #26, #40-
There were many ways the populations in England and Europe could have prevented the spread of the plague, such as; gotten rid of garbage piles, kept one's house as clean and sanitary as possible, and made pet food tamper-proof so the rats couldn't get into it. If the people of England and Europe would have prevented the plague, The economy, society, and population today would not be the same if the black death never happened because the plague killed off too many people for there not to be a change, people wanted to start living better and equal to others in different social statuses, and the economy became different after people started treating themselves better and buying expensive items.
