The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is what made it against the law to keep women from voting. It ended the unequal application of voter’s registration requirements. Congress in 1963 had just passed the unequal pay act. It’s hard to believe that women, and non-white Americans were paid less than men for the exact or harder type of labor. This Act caused many riots, young people fighting one against another. People were very upset during this time because they didn’t want “Coloreds” in the schools. I didn’t live of course during that time frame and I know movies don’t portray things exactly, but I couldn’t imagine some of the mistreatment that was allowed to people just because their skin was a different color. This part of this Act in my opinion was good at the time frame, but would I be wrong to say that maybe if we weren’t so busy trying to not be judgmental or unequal maybe we wouldn’t be in such a mess with all these terrorists.
