How Did The French And Indian War Contribute To The American Revolution
The French and Indian War was fought in the Americas. The end of the French and Indian War was twelve years before the Revolutionary War was started. The French and Indian War in many ways had lead to the revolution of the American colonies. The reasons behind the Revolutionary War this was the money, the land, and the people involved. One of the main reasons for the revolution was money. Britain was involved heavily in the French and Indian War, on the Native American side. When the Native Americans, and through that, the British, won the war, the British government saw this as an American war. They sent a representative to Parliament and demanded to have the same rights as any other English citizen and also demanded that the only one who could tax Virginia was Virginia. This was denied. Soon after this, people began to burn stuffed dolls of English officials in effigy. The Sons of Liberty group was formed and began to hold massive protests. Merchants began to boycott British goods. After all of this, the Stamp Act was repealed and the colonists thought they had won. Then the Townshend Acts were passed. Now, trade goods, like glass, paper, and tea, all had a tax on them. New boycotts started all over. The Boston Massacre happened and things only got worse. Soon after, the Tea Act was passed that placed a large tax on tea products. This lead to uproar in the colonies and the Boston Tea Party was planned and executed. After this, the British government passed the Quartering Act that required that all colonists have to house and feed soldiers of the British.     The Sugar Act taxed all common goods such as sugar, lumber, animal skins, and whale bone. The colonists responded in a mild protest, but it was not a huge issue for most. The next act past was the Stamp Act. The stamp act highly taxed stamps and made it so every paper had to have a stamp.     In the mid to late 1700 an act was set into order called “The Stamp act.” This act was a follow up to the sugar act and what it did was place a stamp onto paper products and other similar products. This act really shows an impact on the economic perspective at the time. The stamp showed that the product had been purchased and also showed that there would be an extra fee at check out. The reason this act is such a big deal is because the colonist had no tolerance for this unfair act that they had been forced to accept. In revolt on the 16th of 1773 over 100 members of the Son’s of Liberty approached the Griffin’s Wharf where the tea ships of the East India Company were docked.
