British merchants were greatly affected by the colonists determined boycott protests, that they begged parliament to stop the Stamp Act. February 1766, the Act was canceled. But the British didn’t stop, they were resilient and came up with newer Acts and ways of taxing the American colonies. The British parliament passed Acts such as the Declaratory Act, the Townshend Act, the Tea Act and the Coercive Act that further angered the colonists by making them feel restricted, ignored and unfairly treated. 4 1676, Charles Townshend, new finance minister, came up with the Townshend Act.…
After the French and Indian war the Americans were used to being neglected because the british needed all the troops they could get to fight the seven years. The Americans had experienced salutary neglect for so long that when the British came back the Americans did not like it. The British taxed the Americans with the sugar act and the intolerable acts without the representation deserved. This marked the beginning of the American Revolution.…
For about a century after British colonists settled in America, they were subject to little political constriction under England’s policy of salutary neglect, but when the settlers were threatened by the French and their native American allies, the mother country stepped in and fought to protect the colonies. The war was named “The Seven Year War”. The seven year war changed the friendship between the mother country and the colonies. The change was especially in an ideological sense. The French and Indian War (1754-1763) altered the political, economical, and ideological relations between Britain and its American colonies. English debt lead to unfair taxation of the colonists, and this changed the way they felt about their mother country. What was also altered was, the expansion of land in America that was once uncovered, the way the Americans strived for independence after the war, and the…
Suddenly, the French and Indian War ended with defeat for French Canada. From this point, numerous changes occurred between Americans and the British. Namely political, economic and ideological changes. Land was expanded, taxes were sprung left and right, and most colonists finally believed that it was time to break away from England. All these changes eventually led to the revolution. It was soon known that the British’s success in the French and Indian war transformed the relationship between the Americans and the British.…
In the period between 1740-1766, land meant more power, therefore it was the main focus of the French and Indian War. Document 1 shows a map of European land holdings in North America before and after the war. The French had a very limited influence in the continent beyond 1763, since they had lost most of their valuable territory to the English and Haiti was the only French-controlled area that remained. Even the Russians began to extend their holdings. The Spanish continued to spread upward and claimed land near the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, as they had originally done in Central and South America centuries before, when Hernando Cortes conquered the Aztec Empire. However, the British didn’t refer to the war as the French and Indian War, but rather the “Seven Years’ War.” England was able to take control of the much-desired Ohio River Valley, sealing its fate as the dominating colonizer of North America and the most powerful country in Europe. Document 3 is a 1755 letter written by George Washington, who wanted to serve under General Edward Braddock and gain military knowledge. The war began in 1754, despite the English and the colonists having different motives for expanding west. They used the colonists to their advantage, recruiting them to ensure victory in the French and Indian War and suddenly creating more policies that restricted their rights. Washington unknowingly set off the war with an attack on Fort Duquesne and later had to admit that he assassinated the French leader. He was from Virginia himself and he understood that his fellow Virginians had a desire to move west so they could farm and live on the land, but the British government was only interested in gaining power and territory near the Ohio River Valley. In fact, the French and Indian War wasn’t going so well…
Throughout the history of the United States of America, the American Revolutionary War was undoubtedly the event that was most impactful and decisive towards the ultimate fate of this country. Without it, this country wouldn’t have seen its formation in the first place. It began in the 1750’s and 1760’s, when British colonists who settled in the 13 colonies became fed up with British rule, taxation, and laws set on them. For example, when the taxes for tea were imposed on the colonies, a large majority started revolting, and strived for liberty from the British, so that they could govern themselves and create their own laws. As a result, many who lived in the colonies, including famous patriots, eventually sparked a revolution until a full-out…
The American Revolution was the war between the Americans and the French against the British for their land and independence. The French and Indian War was the war for American soil between the Colonies of Britain and New France. After the Revolution there was a great amount of political change both in the government and in the people governed. Now free from Britain’s monarchial rule the Americans were one of the first to rule with democracy and were able to deal with their issiues themselves. As written in the Pennsylvania Packet, Tories, people who supported British rule were forced or influenced to leave, this left the country with a majority of liberal. Other problems that the new government faced were the Native Americans, like at the Confederate Council of 1786. The Native Americans were unhappy with the fact that their concerns had been brushed aside and they were generally ignored.…
The revolutionary war was not truly revolutionary because of these reasons. Men were painted playing sport, instead of seeking progress. These same men disregarded the Native Americans and gave no deserving respect; after it all, it was their home. Not much had changed except the land of free people being taken. The Legislatures were busy swimming in their money pile before and after the war. Their Revolutionary War seemed only efficient in taking over the land of…
The Revolutionary War was a tragic and painstaking war fought between America and Great Britain from April nineteenth, 1775, to September third, 1783. The main conflict was over America’s longing for independence, and Britain denying them of this freedom. Even though Britain was at the height of its power, and the United States had a ragtag army and limited resources, America was the unlikely victor. While Britain appeared to have the upper hand, America had a few unpredictable advantages. First of all, allies such as France and Spain aided them on many different grounds that pulled them to victory. Strength was also found in the leadership from the generals, particularly George Washington.…
The revolutionary war that took place In American soil during the years of 1775–1783, against the British Crown would definitely bring some change to the south and the thirteen colonies as well as plantation owners of this country. Between the origins of this war were the desire of many Americans to achieve, liberty, republicanism and independence from the British crown, to get rid of taxes that were imposed by the British. Americans considered these taxes to be unconstitutional. This opposition then was developed into boycotts and the destruction of a shipment of tea at the Boston Tea Party. All these series of events eventually turned into the revolutionary war that would make citizens understand that the American Revolution would mean both…
The Revolution exposed the nation’s tension between commitment to liberty and commitment to slavery which obviously seemed to be incompatible. Americans, primarily southern American did not see it that way. For them the Revolution as about securing freedom for themselves and slavery for others. For Native Americans, the Revolution weakened their position in America. With the patriots winning the war, there was an increased demand for western land.…

The American Revolution embarked the beginning of the United States of America. A war that lasted eight years, 1775-1783, was able to grant the thirteen colonies the independence they deserved by breaking free of British rule. The war was an effect of the previous French and Indian War, which forced England to tax the American colonist, compelling them to rebel against parliament. From the 1760’s to 1775, many factors lead up to the American Revolution such as the various acts the British Parliament passed to pay the war debt, no representation in parliament, and the American people wanting to gain their independence. “No Taxation without Representation”, a slogan used by the American colonist, was the most important cause of the colonists declaring war for their independence on the British government.…
