He created Disneyland. This $17 million dollar project was not easy, but it didn’t stop him. On July 17, 1955, Disneyland was opened. The park was not completely ready yet, but Walt did not want to push back the opening date. There were complaints about some of the rides not working properly, the minimum amount of water fountains that were found around the park, but after a few days everything was working like a well-oiled machine. On October 1st, 1971 Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida opened. This was Walt Disney’s last project before he died. He died on December 15, 1966. Disney died before Epcot opened due to lung cancer. This was because he smoked. His brother Roy continued the construction of the park after he died.
Walt Disney may be dead, but his work is still in progress. There are two additional parks that were added. On May 1st, 1989 Hollywood Studios open; and on April 22, 1998 Animal Kingdom opened. Also, now there are over 400 Disney films out and more are in the process of coming out. Walt may just be a man, but he wasn’t just a man. He was one of the most successful entrepreneurs and producers of his time. Walt Disney’s ideas and projects will be remembered because of what he left
