A chameleon’s natural habitat is dry and humid places. Most chameleon’s live in tree’s and humid places either on the ground or where it is really dry or wet. They can also live in water. Chameleon’s naturally live in Madagascar, Spain, and Portugal (Mcarthy C, 1991).

Chameleon’s change color to change their appearance to humans or animals that are generally bigger than them. They change their appearance in order to make themselves hard to see against their natural background (Mccarthy C, 1991). The reason that they change color is so they won’t be harmed by bigger animals that can be harmful to them. Their characteristics allow them to change their appearance whenever they want or to any color that would be necessary. If they are by a certain color they can automatically blend in to that exact color. They can even allow themselves to change into more than one color at a time.
Depending on where they live, chameleon’s may be more harmful to other animals than they would be to the chameleon. Using camoflauge helps them to blend into their surroundings. This process makes them feel secure wherever they may be. It has been proven that whenever they are in a change of scenery they immediately change into that surrounding color.
