In the film Coraline Henry Selick uses a technique called high angle to show the loneliness feeling going on in the film. He used this technique to emphasize how alone she is in such a big surrounding by using high angle. I believe Henry Selick uses this angle very well in film Coraline. By expressing the feeling of loneliness through an angle.
Henry Selick uses a technique called medium shot to show how Coraline feels. Especially because this shot is one of the closer ones,
I believe he was really trying to portray her feeling of loneliness. In this scene as she is on top of the well she is the center of attention. Which really makes it easy to read the feeling of being isolated and away from people going through her mind. Therefore I believe Henry outlines the feeling of isolation and loneliness by using medium in the scene.
In the film Coraline the director Henry Selick uses dolly to show the feeling of loneliness. I belive he uses this technique very well. Because as the camera is tracking Coraline it makes it very easy to read the expressions of loneliness coming off of Coraline’s face. I believe by using the technique dolly you can really see that Coraline feels exempted and isolated as the camera tracks her you get assurity of loneliness in Coraline’s eyes. Overall I believe that dolly really outlines the feeling of loneliness in this film.
In Coraline Henry uses high angle, medium shot, and dolly to emphasize the feeling of loneliness. Throughout the film the director uses these three techniques grabbing the attention of the audience; really bringing out the loneliness in Coraline’s life. In conclusion I believe Henry uses these techniques to the fullest really expressing the feeling of loneliness in the film Coraline.
