How Does Dna Methylation Contribute To Evolution
DNA methylation contributes greatly to evolution because it is able to facilitate regulation of specific tissues and is a factor for functional divergence of gene duplication. It is linked to natural selection and the pressures of the environment. Since organisms reproduce offspring, the environmental stress, is able to change DNA gene expression which makes it possible for these organisms to survive in the environment that they are living in. DNA methylation has higher rates of mutations which are transmitted genetically and are able to be reversed. This causes diversity within a species to increase and allows the opportunity for organisms to adapt to new environmental pressures. An example of how DNA methylation contributes to evolution would

He talks the reader through genetics in a simple and slow writing technique that makes it easy to comprehend complex situations.     To understand implications that come with epigenetics, one must first understand epigenetics. So, what exactly is it? Simply put, epigenetics is the study of changes in gene expression not caused by alterations to the DNA sequence (Berger, Kouzarides, Shiekhattar, & Shilartifard, 2009). Recent studies have shown that the relation between DNA sequence and cell structure is not 1:1, that is to say that what you see in a creature’s DNA does not fully represent what the creature will be like (Berger, Kouzarides, Shiekhattar, & Shilartifard, 2009).
