The first thing he sees is a man with blue skin walk up to him. Confused, Eddie asks who he is. “I am your first person Edward.” He teaches Eddie his first lesson, which is that there are no random acts in life. If Eddie had never chased his baseball into the street, the blue man may have never died. However, since the blue man steered the car away from hitting Eddie, one of the benefits is that Eddie got to live. The second person Eddie meets in heaven is his captain while he was in war. The captain saw Eddie running into a burning building to save a person he thought he saw. He shot Eddie in the leg so he can keep him alive. If Eddie would’ve went into into the building, “We woulda lost you forever. A bullet can be healed, Eddie. I did it to keep you alive.” Said captain. He kept his promise to Eddie by never leaving anyone behind. Which leads Eddie to his next lesson. “When one loses something (his healthy leg), they often gain something else (his life). The third person he meets is a lady named Ruby. Emile, Ruby’s husband said that he wanted to build Ruby a seaside resort to capture the moment. Emile later built the park and named it Ruby Pier, after Ruby. As a

Imagery is used very often in the book, “The Five People You Meet in Heaven”. The important one I believe Mitch Albom used, was when he first described the heavenly Ruby Pier. The smell of the pier was something Mitch brought up many times throughout the story when Eddie mentions it. The pier was, “a place that smelled of cotton candy” Eddie said. So it must have smelt the same. The sky in heaven changed color from pink to leather brown, the pier was new and fresh when Eddie woke up, but it had all the rides it had 75 years ago, not what it had before he died. The sounds weren't very loud, because there was no one there, but when he gets to the sideshow he hears an announcer out of a megaphone describing the Blue Man, even though he…

The thought provoking novel the five people you meet in heaven, portrays that after life is lost, not all is over; people go to heaven to get closure on the life they lived on earth. After death, the main character of the story while in heaven, Eddie, meets five people whose own lives were ultimately affected by his decisions. Through these five people, Eddie's life and meaning on earth gets explained to him. Whether those five people were family or complete strangers, all lives are inter-connected. The novel the five people you meet in heaven, by Mitch Albom, demonstrates how there are consequences to every action, whether being intentional or unintentional; this can be seen through sacrifice, regret and forgiveness.…

Susie is unable to let go of this because to her, it is all she has. Mr. Bloom and his son were two of the main characters in this story. In the beginning, Edward’s son was angry, resentful, and thought his father was a liar. Edward would tell these stories about his life, but because of their greatness, his son thought he lied. Edward would say, “I am just a big fish in a small pond”. There was a great distance between Edward and his son. Some time passed and his father got sick. He was cleaning out his pool when a large fish swam by him. He did not understand what it meant in the beginning, but near the end of the movie, he found out. By talking to a lady about his father and asking questions, she was able to clear up many uncertainties he had. The stories were true. When his father was lying down in the hospital, the doctor also confirmed his father’s stories. Edward had begun to believe his father and their relationship had become stronger. On the night of his death, Edward woke up next to his son and asked how he was supposed to die. His son told the story of his death and not long after, Edward…

    My Time in Heaven Letter

My name is Kimberly I’m fifteen years old and I bought your book “ My Time in Heaven” yesterday (June 19’ 12). I got the idea to start reading books about people dying and coming back life after the day that I went to the carnival last week. I went to the carnival with my family and on my way back home we started to talk about how if you play a song backwards you hear another message. Its called backmasking. If you don’t know what it means I’d rather you look it up on google than me explain it to you because I’m not good with explaining. After speaking about that my somewhat aunt said that we needed to watch what we listened to because those are devilish songs and if we were to die the next minute or even second we would be sent to hell for listening to the devilish songs. Singers like Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Lady Gaga all have those subliminal messages in them. Saying to kill and lean on them and saying that they were rich and beautiful because they worship Lucifer. Then my aunt started to say how she saw this video on YouTube of this lady that died and came back to life. She was taken to hell to see what it was like and to warn the people up on earth. She said that she had seen the pope, Michael Jackson and Selena (the Spanish singer that died long time ago). Selena had told her that every time they play her songs up on earth, the demons beat her. I got interested all of this. I didn’t and don’t want to hell. I didn’t think that it was that bad. After I heard that people are set on fire and all those things you mentioned in the book I wanted to do all little more research about heaven and hell. I went to Barnes N’ Noble yesterday and went to the religion section and such a book of books. Out of all the books I saw I only saw two books that talk about someone dying, seeing heaven and hell, and coming back to life. Before hearing about all this hell and heaven things that you described in the book, I didn’t really…
