I feel that his lies about Catholicism to Myrtle reveals that he is only planning to be in an intimate relationship with Myrtle and only trying to impress her for her love rather that actually caring for her and showing respect to her. He clearly shows her no respect when he brutally broke her nose. 7. Daisy- Mia Farrow was not particularly the right type for this role. After reading the book, I thought that Daisy would have a nice, soft, loud voice that could get your attention.. Mia Farrow, on the other hand, had a high pitched, squeaky and annoying voice. This took away from the character of Daisy because it made listening to her almost intolerable.
Gatsby- Robert Redford did a great job of playing the Character of Jay Gatsby. I felt as if he had the proper tone of voice that was portrayed in the book. It's almost the exact type of character that in the movie that I thought of while I was reading the book.
Myrtle- I don't feel as if the actor of Karen Black did a great job or a terrible job in the attempt of the Fitzgerald portrayal. The last page parallels the end of the chapter because Fitzgerald includes the thoughts of Nick of Gatsby's wonder when he first picked out the green light at the end of Daisy's dock. All the green imagery because the green symbolizes the dream that Jay Gatsby once had to be in love with Daisy. 6. I believe that Nick is the moral voce in the novel. The Valley of Ashes is the place of setting where morals are left out and superficial. 7. The comments that Fitzgerald is making bout The American Dream is that no everybody is really working in the hard, persevering manner that the people that are going from rags to riches are. Some people are cheating the system and they are becoming wealthy recklessly. 8. Gatsby has to die because Fitzgerald is illustrating the carelessness of the era in which he lived.
