Many times in the past I have been led astray from information that was not accurate just because I felt the source relaying the information was honest and smart.
However, I came to realize that we have to beware of how information is presented because it can be presented in a manner in which is deceiving yet appealing to our needs or interests. I agree one hundred percent that people can make up things and therefore have you believing what they
say.
Furthermore, statistics can be very essential to everyday life and the areas in which we encompass each day. Additionally, statistics are used everyday to analyze what is taking place in the world around us. We just have to know when to prevent ourselves from falling prey to all the information we hear. Therefore, we must learn to research independently of what we hear or see to find truth and gain knowledge about data that is being displayed or relayed in order to gain accurate detailed information. According to Howard (2003, p. 11) it is noted that, ”In the Information Age, credibility is key.” Therefore, we have to take into account that some of the information we gather is a little distorted in terms of how it has been transmitted over and over again by different people that put their own spin on it or even more by information being construed over time because the information has been conveyed from many varying sources.
