Authors main goal was to create something new away from traditional styles and experiment with new forms of writing in order to distinguish their literary works from the others in previous time periods. The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald was written during this time period. It was a piece of literature that expanded upon the ideas and lifestyles present during the 1930s. During that time period everything was flashy, fancy, and fabulous, yet not exactly perfect.. Throughout every chapter in the novel that fact is significantly exemplified. Due to the fact that The Great Gatsby was written during the 1930s it creates a whole other story than if the story was written in the 2000s or even present day, if that were to have happened it would not have ended up being even remotely close to the same story at all. The literature is a reflection of the time period, and if The Great Gatsby wasn’t written in the time period it was written when it was the intended message would have been vastly different. The overall story only exists due to the happenings of the time
