How Does Montag Change In Fahrenheit 451
Montag’s views on society changes throughout Fahrenheit 451 as he reads books and meets several characters. Such as Clarisse, Beatty, and Faber. Clarisse asks questions that open his eyes to the emptiness of his life and society. Beatty who ruthlessly manipulates and bullies him with his vast knowledge of literature. Then, Faber who uses him to do what he could not because of his cowardice. Montag is a very conflicted character, when he starts reading books he is overwhelmed and confused by the complexity of what he has never seen before. This confusion leads him to make some terrible decisions. As Montag is walking home after burning some books the first character he meets is Clarisse. Clarisse and Montag talk for a while and many topics

Montag says no, but Clarisse asks another question which leads to Montag getting angry and asking, “Haven’t you any respect?” (8). He then proceeds to read them with his wife who is extremely against it. Later on in part two, Montag meets Faber and Montag receives a green earpiece so the two can communicate. He is a firemen yet he reads books, Beatty already knows from the way he acts that he has books. Mildred takes all the books that Montag hid in the garden and put them on the floor in the house. Then the hound finds the books. Which leads the firemen right to Montag’s house. Montag burns his house then rebels against Beatty and burns him to death.
