Mung beans are small green legumes that are in the same family as peas and lentils. They originated from Asia and farmers use them as natural nitrogen products to balance the soil for harvesting. The beans show most growth in temperatures between 75 and 85 degrees fahrenheit. The volume for the average full-grown mung bean is about 230 cubic centimeters. In food, the beans are mainly used for soups. The question being experimented is how does the liquid pH level affect the growth of the mung beans? The mung beans grow best in pH levels between 6.2 and 7.2. The experiment will focus …show more content…
Even though the mung beans perform best in neutral pH levels, we hypothesize that the more acidic and more basic levels will not show any drastic differences. We hypothesize that the beans growing in pH seven water will grow to about one hundred eighty cubic centimeters, the beans in pH two will grow to about eighty cubic centimeters, and the beans in pH eight will grow to about one hundred twenty cubic centimeters. We predict that the more basic water will show more growth because a more basic water for humans is much healthier for the body than acidic water. It's probable that because the more basic water is better for humans that it will also be better for the mung
