him.” Walter Cunningham is in a poor family, and her Aunt Alexandra doesn’t like it when people from a lower class gets mixed with her family. Speaking of Walter Cunningham his dad, Walter Cunningham Sr., once had lead a mob. When Tom Robinson was accused of raping Mayella Ewell, they automatically thought that he was guilty because he was black. They believed that Tom Robinson shouldn’t have a trial. It was when they were holding Tom Robinson in the cell the night before the trial, and the mob was trying to tell Atticus to get out of the way, to get Tom Robinson. The only reason that Walter Cunningham had stopped was because Scout was there, and she was being friendly to him. She said “Don’t you remember me, Mr Cunningham? I’m Jean Louise Finch. ”You Brought us some hickory nuts one time, remember?” Walter had also realized that he shouldn’t be holding a mob in front of Scout. Especially since she goes to school, and is friends with his son. The Tom Robinson versus the Ewell’s case was another prejudiced event in the book.
Tom Robinson was a friend of Calpurnia, who was the Finch’s housekeeper, from her church. Tom Robinson was accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Her and her father couldn’t stick with the same story. They would also keep changing their story about what happened. Plus Bob Ewell is left handed, and Mayella’s bruises were on her right side. While they are over there changing their story Tom Robinson's story was the same the whole time, and it never change. When Scout said that Tom Robinson was a very honest man, and when atticus had asked Tom if he had ever raped Mayella Ewell, he had said in a very serious voice “I did not!” Then there was when the Ewell’s defendant or lawyer was talking to Tom Robinson with disrespectful attitude. Even though all of the evidence was shown to prove that the Ewell’s were guilty and Tom Robinson wasn't guilty and lying, they convicted Tom Robinson guilty. The trial was not fair at all with the jury saying he was guilty, Mostly because he was
black. Scout had seen all of these events happen in her small town. From her own aunt discriminating a kid because of his wealth. All the way to someone leading a mob, trying to forcefully remove Tom Robinson for something that he didn’t do. But he still ended up brutally getting shot a total of seventeen times. She see’s all of these things as a kid, and realizes it later as an adult.
