The prohibition mostly put Chicago and its citizens in a worse situation, although there was great support. Instead of limiting abuse in homes and increasing the productivity at workplaces, prohibition was the start of the bootlegging business, the illegal production and selling of alcohol. Crime and corruption exploded in the city and health conditions got worse, due to the self-made liquor. There were people however who fought these problems such as Elliot Ness. Prohibition has its effects still on society of America today and Prohibition is still existing in some countries.
