This is a legislations that provides health and safety to all employees in the workplace.
With regards to education it also provides health and safety to pupils and others that visit the school.

FIRST AID REGULATIONS 1981
This legislation means that an employer must have sufficient first aid equipment and supplies.
There should also be enough First Aiders for the amount of staff, students and visitors at the school.
If a child is unwell you must inform the teacher in the classroom.
Take the child to the medical room where a First Aider can assess the illness.
All illnesses and accidents must be recorded in the medical room folder by the First Aider.
If the First Aider feels that the child should be sent home they will contact the parents/carers
An illness slip must then be completed and given to the school office who will ensure that it is sent home by post, the student or the school transport.
