How FFA Changed My Life
Year after year, I walk through the Fort Worth Stock Show areas such as holding pins, arenas, and the fairgrounds. Through the journeys, I gain an appreciation for all the hard work and dedication that these people have put into the fair and how it is changing people's lives. Going back to freshman year, like it was yesterday, I remember how I did not want to be a part of FFA and was forced to take an agriculture class. What I didn't realize was how wrong I was about agriculture classes and FFA. After the second day, I quickly immersed myself in FFA after seeing all it offered to me. With determination I joined a group of Seniors in Ag Issues and we went to State. Suddenly I was driven to experience everything FFA had to offer. I have held …show more content…

FFA pulled me out of my comfort zone into an arena where I have become a strong leader through my experiences. I now stand boldly to reach my goals because FFA has given me the tools to succeed in every challenge I face. I have taken advantage of every opportunity for leadership training, have grown with each competition whether I went to State or did not place where I hoped. For the rest of my life I will continue to hold in my heart the values FFA has taught me. Now I know that FFA does not directly relate to the Forth Worth Stock Show, but for me it is what started my career and passion for agriculture, leadership, and developing connections with others. Furthermore, The Fort Worth Stock Show have represented another stepping stone in my life to continue to develop the skills and appreciate everyone's hard work and dedication, because the small things change people the most. This year I had the opportunity to work at the FFA Children’s Barnyard and I have to say what an incredible experience that was. During this time, I assisted in watching the animals and the most important part discuss with the children and adults that came through the barnyard about agriculture, the individual animals, and the opportunities in

FFA develops competent and assertive agricultural leadership. Premier leadership can be obtained through many activities hosted by the FFA. One way in particular, is by attending one of the leadership and growth conferences. During these conferences members go to workshops where they learn how to become better leaders, to make a difference, and to be successful throughout life. These are very fun and beneficial conferences that all members should take advantage of. FFA members are more likely to be employed than the average high school student (National FFA Organization 4). When local FFA advisor, Matt Petrowitz, was asked what FFA meant to him, he said, “FFA to me means an organization where everyone belongs and is about leadership and tradition” (Petrowitz). He is proof that premier leadership is gained through FFA…

People ask me why I care so much. They tell me it’s just a game, get over it. But soccer has never been just a game to me. Soccer has been consuming my time, thoughts, and body since my parents signed me up for small-time recreational soccer twelve years ago that developed into extremely competitive travel soccer. They, perhaps unknowingly, threw me headlong into a life of traveling countless miles, long nights of practice, and an unforgettable amount of tears, sweat, and bloodshed. All which persisted over the course of my extensive soccer career.…

For a majority of my childhood, the sport of baseball was the one activity I loved above anything else. Nothing could compare to the exhilarating freedom and satisfaction of bolting full speed around the bases, determined to steal, beating the "Throwdown" by a fraction of a second. The massive dust cloud kicked up by my cleats and the thunderous boom of the umpire shouting, "Safe!" made me feel empowered.…

My name is Kaleigh Gonzales I’m a 15 year old sophomore and I’m running for the 2014-2015 officer position of reporter for Armwood High Schools FFA Chapter. I feel I should be selected for this position because not only am I a people person but I am also extremely organized. I think this would make me be able to effectively and efficiently get the Armwood FFA’s chapter name known to the public. I would also try to do this by doing any and all public service projects we can get our hands on, then publishing our successes. I believe that to make a difference you have to be known and respected by the community around you. In the past three years I have served as Vice President for Burnett Middle School for two terms and Treasurer for Armwood high school for one term. In this time I’ve competed many events including forestry, land judging, vet assisting, OCC, creed speaking, and extemporaneous public speaking. By doing this I’ve gained lots of experience and love in our great organization. I believe to be this year’s reporter I have to not only work on our clubs public media aspects but also work hard in competitions to win and better our chapters’ reputation. If I were to describe the technique in which I lead I would have to say that I plan , I tell others my plan , and then I depend on my team to help me. They tell me where they specialize in and what they want to do for me, and we work form there. I try to let people do what makes them happy while still helping me. I can make a personal promise that I will always work my hardest to make FFA my top priority, a position like this requires my full attention. My other activity I engage in is that I am a First sergeant of alpha company in JROTC, this means I am the second in command of one of three company’s in our schools only JROTC battalion. I promise that my responsibilities there will not interfere with my responsibilities regarding FFA. Some activities I want to do this year are competitions like OCC and…
