The majority of the interviewee’s said being relational played the biggest role in the leadership, while the other two said common task orientation towards the shared organizational vision was the biggest role. Regardless, all agreed that strong leaders lead by example and also take part in follower tasks, as Chick-fil-A outlines in their leadership model.…
In her lecture professor Brooten discusses the Pentateuch and the notion of a gender dichotomy present in the early church. In particular, she notes that enslaved men and women were different in the eyes of law. She begins by contrasting the rules for holding Hebrew slaves in the various books of the Pentateuch. She claims that in Exodus 21 men had to be released from slavery after six years of service, whereas this right was not extended to women. This changes in Deuteronomy where both Hebrew men and women had to be released after six years of service, at which point their master often gave them some sheep, wine, or other means to support themselves.…
When one thinks of a leader, what type of person do we think of? Is that individual a hero that we see on television, a cartoon character, a family member, or is that person a public servant? Regardless of occupation and title, a leader is a person who inspires others and they know how to motivate people. “When they arrive, you see something about them that stands out. The inner strength of their leadership ability emerges”. (Gonzalez, 2007, February 1). Leaders are individuals in your area of work who are focused on the tasks at hand and they have a clear and concise vision on what their respective organizations are set out to do.…

During my years in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), I have experienced novel challenges with officer duties, competitive event preparation, and chapter activities. In the beginning, more experienced members encouraged and lead me to find success in the organization, and as the school years have progressed, I have evolved to pass that same support onto others.…
Year after year, I walk through the Fort Worth Stock Show areas such as holding pins, arenas, and the fairgrounds. Through the journeys, I gain an appreciation for all the hard work and dedication that these people have put into the fair and how it is changing people's lives. Going back to freshman year, like it was yesterday, I remember how I did not want to be a part of FFA and was forced to take an agriculture class. What I didn't realize was how wrong I was about agriculture classes and FFA. After the second day, I quickly immersed myself in FFA after seeing all it offered to me.…

Throughout life, we make choices, choices that define who we are as individuals. One choice that has really influenced my life was the choice to join FFA. Most people cannot just join an organization and learn how to lead it without any kind of help, especially if they have had little to no interest concerning it in the past. Unfortunately, I learned this during my time as a member of my local FFA (Future Farmers of America) chapter. For the past four years we have had a different advisor for each new school year, and it became evident why after the second or third one: they had no idea what they were doing, how to do it, and no one bothered to lead them in the right direction. If even a single one of the senior members had stepped in to be a leader and inspired them to take an interest in their duties, our chapter would have had a stable advisor. My team recently did this, along with instituting a more strenuous interview process, and we now have an extremely satisfactory advisor.…
Throughout my experiences, I have gained insight into what makes an effective and respected leader. Correspondingly, I have learned that maintaining group focus while avoiding dominating every decision is vital to have fruitful administrative endeavors. Being a youth representative for my church and a volunteer coordinator for my school’s chapter of National Honor Society have required efficient uses of my leadership skills. As I continue through life, I hope to foster my leadership abilities and use them to unite people and attain our mission.…
Starting in the eighth grade I joined my local FFA chapter. Once I got involved I started to attend Leadership camps on the local, state, and even at the national level which is held in D.C. I also have been a chapter officer since ninth grade, also I was selected as a National Delegate for the state of Arkansas. Being highly involved in all of these events have helped me become a better and more effective leader everywhere I go.…
