FFA Reflective Essay

The utmost important aspect of a leader is their ultimate goal, which raises a question. What is my goal as a leader in the various aspects of my life? The ultimate goal for myself as a leader in any group of people is to inspire those I lead. I seek to inspire them to achieve greatness, to surpass their own expectations, to become leaders themselves. If I could not accomplish this, then I would be lacking a key piece of what separates the decent from the exemplary. Most people cannot just join an organization and learn how to lead it without any kind of help, especially if they have had little to no interest concerning it in the past. Unfortunately, I learned this during my time as a member of my local FFA (Future Farmers of America) chapter. For the past four years we have had a different advisor for each new school year, and it became evident why after the second or third one: they had no idea what they were doing, how to do it, and no one bothered to lead them in the right direction. If even a single one of the senior members had stepped in to be a leader and inspired them to take an interest in their duties, our chapter would have had a stable advisor. During my time running cross country last year, I attempted to push myself and inspire those around me. Even after the season had ended I wanted to push myself just a bit farther; I accomplished this by running a half marathon. After I had finished, my fellow teammates who did not run felt inspired by me, and they were sure that they wanted to run the same half marathon after the next season. Having inspired them, I felt as if I accomplished much more than running a half marathon. I was able to take a small part in leading them to their future
