My Leadership Philosophy
Society places an importance on a variety of characteristics. One of the most renowned characteristics involves guiding others successfully. The ability to lead individuals is a trait that is valuable throughout one’s lifetime. As an individual continues to grow and gain the capability to lead, it becomes apparent that one will have the ability to find success within their future. As a high schooler, leadership, in my opinion, has given me the aptitude to benefit my community. Leadership is applicable to individuals who are willing to benefit those around them and find the passion to do so within one’s self. Those who fit the role of a leader are capable of inspiring those around them and take the responsibilities to become the best possible …show more content…

Over this past summer, I worked at a summer camp as a counselor. The children who were under my care were both inspiring and impactful on my life. As someone who had doubts about their capability to lead, the children at the summer camp inspired me to lead more effectively than prior in my lifetime. Within the first few days at this position, those who I was responsible for began to treat me with mutual respect and understand that I had authority over them. Over time, I became responsible for caring for the injuries that the children got while playing. The ability to care for others became something that I determined could end up forever impacting my life, as I became comfortable with helping those who were injured. Although I initially had doubts about my role as a leader, the position that had been acquired this summer allowed me to understand that in juxtaposition to those around me, could begin to lead others more prosperous than before. This position allowed me to further my ability to take initiative as I continued to use my newfound appreciation as a leader in my high school …show more content…

There has been nothing that allowed me to emphatically take initiative than Model UN. I joined Model UN in my freshman year of high school in an attempt to become able to discuss things with others in a more passive manner. One aspect of Model UN that has impacted my role as a leader was a conference that I attended in my sophomore year. This delegation involved me being the sole representative from my high school in my particular committee. Initially, I was unsure about my capability of taking initiative, however, my comfort level within delegation truly shined within that committee. Although it was my first conference that I attended, I was able to take initiative within the group to make an effective resolution to the problem that was presented. By offering insight to other members, I feel that that moment truly proved to me how potential I have to be a leader. Model UN has also taught me to be an effective leader as I had the opportunity to help others understand what it is like to be a member of Model UN. At the first conference hosted by my high school, it became apparent that those who had been members for a while would need to show the incoming members what the club is like and the procedures that a member of Model UN would need to take. While conferring with the future members of the club, I took initiative in discussing what each individual must do to properly follow the

Under the presidency of S.A.D.D (Students Against Destructive Decisions) in my high school, I've conducted and lead many projects to help many organizations and even planned and coordinated many community service projects. But, out of the many project that the club and I have planned and created, I would have to state that I've projected my leadership role the most while our club and I went to Feeding South Florida for a field trip that I've planned. The reason why I state this is because, Feeding South Florida was a common place that many people knew, especially our members, and so before we got to the warehouse, I've explained the purpose Feeding South Florida stands for and the job that we would have to do there. When we got to the warehouse and began working, I would help the members and other volunteers carry boxes that were a bit heavy for them to carry and to help them understand how to sort the items that were donated to the warehouse into categorized boxes that they had provided to us. The purpose on why I led this project is because of the purpose behind Feeding South Florida, which is to collect, pack and send foods to the many shelters and food kitchens that they have provided in South Florida and working on this project created a positive effect on my life. The reason why I state this is because, while volunteering, it made me feel as if I was privileged.…

During high school, I committed most of my free time to my NJROTC unit and my 4-H club. In both of these organizations, community service, leadership, citizenship, and initiative are indispensable values that are essential to their functioning, and I like to think I have learned to embody these traits. In 4-H, I have attended, and then went on to teach, numerous leadership and group trainings. In NJROTC, I attended the Area 5 Leadership Academy, graduated as the Second Honor Cadet of the 2014 Academy, and was selected to be an Aide for the 2015 Academy. I held, or currently hold, leadership positions in both organizations and I feel I set a good example for my peers and subordinates. Through any task, I am enthusiastic about my job and…

Throughout my high school career, I have been given numerous opportunities to lead other students by example, work ethic, volunteerism, and school involvement. I believe that my greatest impact as a leader in high school has been through my participation in a Service Learning Class. This class gave me the chance to help and lead others by tutoring younger students in the middle school and elementary school. As a senior, I felt responsible for providing a voice for the class in ideas and decisions to help better our school. I worked with administrators, teachers, and class members to promote healthy habits of responsibility, school pride, respect, and service.…

During the summer before my senior year of high school, I was involved in one of the most influential opportunities I had ever encountered. I was given the chance to volunteer my time at Schneck Medical Center. I chose to volunteer in the rehabilitation department; this helped fuel my desire to want to become a physical therapist. While at the rehabilitation center, I got involved in multiple positions that taught me how to be a better leader and how to successfully use teamwork. Working in the office taught me leadership roles. While in the office, I had to check the patients in for their appointments and paged therapists for their appointments. This position showed me how to take charge and make sure that things in the rehabilitation center…
