6102013 Monday 8:00pm Physical Therapist Assistant Program ESSAY 1. What do you believe a physical therapist would do on a daily basis? As a Physical Therapist Assistant, I believe I will be gaining complete handson experience everyday and be kept up with multiple aspects of my job field most of which includes hospital work, childcare, sports training and lastly, elderly care. To be able to interact and converse smoothly would be something crucial especially when being exposed to so many people who have been injured or distressed. I’m convinced the work effort put into the field of study will be fairly intense prior to becoming a PTA. I also know that PTA is growing popular in the demand of jobs. As far as home care goes, I believe that there’ll be a lot of travelling and paperwork involved day to day because of the hands on experience with athome patients and health notes being taken for patients. 2. Why are you interested in pursuing a career as a Physical Therapist Assistant? What appeals to me the most, is the experience, interaction, and care for new people all the time. I like that there will be a completion of an Associate of Science Degree after all hours and courses being finished. There is a yearly income of $40,000 for entrylevel college PTA graduates, the yearly income ranges from a wide variety of pay from $40,000 to well above $85,000 for the most experienced PTA. I also like that there is an immediate chance of me getting hired as an intern shooting straight out of college. Above all, the thing that sets this particular career apart from others is being able to choose whether the job is fast paced or slow paced depending on the branch that suits me best. I’m hoping to pursue and complete all of the above mentioned. 3. What are your experiences with Physical Therapy I’ve had a good amount of situations involving the work of Physical Therapy. My main experiences with physical therapy are being cared for after hyperextending my MCL during football…
A medical administrative assist preforms many task in the medical atmosphere. This is I think my leadership skills improved through my capstone project and other various volunteer opportunities. For my capstone project I adopted a classroom of a head start preschool program in Chaska where I filled backpacks with school supplies that each child needs for the fall school year. My leadership skills played a significant role when having to contact outside business to ask for donations to receive the schools supplies. In addition, I delivered the backpacks to the classroom where I had the responsibility of leading the…
During high school, I committed most of my free time to my NJROTC unit and my 4-H club. In both of these organizations, community service, leadership, citizenship, and initiative are indispensable values that are essential to their functioning, and I like to think I have learned to embody these traits. In 4-H, I have attended, and then went on to teach, numerous leadership and group trainings. In NJROTC, I attended the Area 5 Leadership Academy, graduated as the Second Honor Cadet of the 2014 Academy, and was selected to be an Aide for the 2015 Academy. I held, or currently hold, leadership positions in both organizations and I feel I set a good example for my peers and subordinates. Through any task, I am enthusiastic about my job and…
From there, I hope to study to be accepted into medical school and specialize in pediatrics. When preparing for medical school, the advice one hears are to become a well-rounded student. Through my DECA experiences I have been able to develop leadership skills that will help me thrive in my future. Over the three years I have been involved, I have stepped out my comfort zone and made a difference in my local DECA chapter, community, and my future. Now taking the responsibility of being a DECA officer, as the chapter president, has allowed me to continue to grow and develop my leadership, communication, and social skills. Working with the Milan DECA Chapter members has proven how difficult and enjoyable being a leader is. At times leading so many events can be stressful; however, the completion of the events pushes me further. In order to reach the goal of becoming ‘well-rounded’, I used DECA skills to organize my time to join other extracurriculars within my community. Along with DECA, I participate in 4-H which is a non-profit organization in counties all across the nation that prepares youth to make a positive impact on their communities. Furthermore, I lead my 4-H club in a Relay For Life team through the American Cancer Society. Additionally, I am a dedicated musician, drum major, and the first Milan High School Flute Choir Director. I am an active participant in the peer education program at Milan High School. I am so thankful for the opportunities to be a leader within my class, school, community, county, and…

I plan to be a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) when I finish college. The Physical Therapist Assistant program is a two year program. I am positive that this is what I want to be. I can finish school at any time after I become a Physical Therapist Assistant, and become a full on Physical Therapist, if I would ever want to. I will be transferring to Wytheville Community College next year, because Bluefield College doesn’t have the Physical Therapist Assistant program. I am going to Bluefield College my first year to get my general classes done, because my mom works as a secretary there and I get free tuition.…
In my life, I have been a patient too many times to say I am well familiar with different roles in health care. When I was fourteen I was diagnosed with a type of cancer called Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and after six months of treatment I decided I wanted to help others like the many clinicians that helped me. After I graduated high school I got a job at an outpatient physical therapy clinic and there my true passion began. This inspired me to apply and eventually get accepted into the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Gateway Community College. The Physical Therapist Assistant program at Gateway will help me reach my goal of becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant by developing my character professionally, giving me the knowledge to help patients, and pass my board to receive my license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.…
Medical assistants work under the supervision of a physician to perform administrative and clinical tasks. Administrative duties include checking in patients at the front desk, answering the phone, scheduling patients, compiling medical records and charts, operating computer software and office equipment. Medical assistants also get to perform clinical duties by assisting the physician in taking and recording patients' vital sings, explaining procedures, administering medications, drawing blood, sterilizing equipment and conducting a variety of tests in the lab. Physical therapist assistants and physical therapist play an important role in today’s healthcare system. Through the use of physical therapy, which was first put into practice in 460 B.C., physical therapist assistants (pta) and physical therapist (pt) help patients with physical illnesses, injuries, or physical strains to recover and manage their pain. Although they seem similar, physical therapist assistants and physical therapist differ from each other in many aspects but most importantly in what they do, how to become each one, and their pay. Physical therapist assistants work under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. Their job is to observe the patient before, during, and after therapy, noting how they are progressing…
The ideal job that I'd prefer to have is to work as a physical therapy assistant (PTA) 24 hours, 7 days a week. My three main points are good benefits, good pay, and a career that I'd love. My preferred earnings potential is $18.00 an hour. I chose to go into this career because I'll be learning about how to eventually become a physical therapist and what they do every single day. I will need an associate's degree to become a Physical Therapy Asst. , and the length of a PTA program is 2 years of general education, PT, and clinical education.…
A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is a health care provider whose function is to assist the Physical Therapist in the provision of physical therapy and to promote optimal health and function in a patient. A physical therapist will see the patient for the first time to examine then and develop a plan of care that promotes the ability to move, reduce pain, restores function, and prevents disability. The PTA will then follow the plan of care and make sure all the goals are met (About Physical Therapy Assistant Careers, 2017).…
I had the pleasure of shadowing a physical therapist in a home health setting treating children under the age of three. At first what initially looked like playing with the kids turned out to be much harder when I tried emulating what the therapist did. Throughout my senior year and even more now as a graduate, I realize I'm still constantly learning. I desire to continue to observe different settings as well as retake a class in order to prepare myself for school. Beyond shadowing I jumped on an opportunity to work side-by-side therapists. I took a position as a rehab aide at an outpatient clinic and enjoy seeing all I’ve learned so far being applied every day. I have absorbed knowledge of different protocols, handing practices, and front office operations. I relished being a part of the treatment process as well as the everyday tasks involved in running a clinic. It opened my eyes to better see the depth and breadth of the world of physical…
