FFA Reflection Essay
I have experience being in leader in a few main aspects of my life; through community service, FFA, and at my job. Some of the valuable leaderships traits that I obtained and strengthened are: being a good team member, communication skills, solving conflicts, and being opened minded to new ideas and thoughts. Even though I have gained a lot, I still have more things to learn to become a better leader such as being more assertive, being more disciplined, becoming a better public speaker, and learn how to be realistic and not too optimistic. My biggest community service achievement was refurbishing the putt-putt. “The Putt-Putt Project” is something a fellow peer and I worked on nearly every day after our junior year of high school. Lizett Sanchez and I were chosen by the Texas Midwest Community Network, or TMCN, to be the representatives for Dublin High School for working a community service project. Our task was to choose a “bright spot,” plan and complete our project before October 11th, 2016. Lizett and I began searching right away and decided upon refurbishing the mini golf at our city park. This project allowed me to demonstrate leadership skills by giving me opportunities to put power in other, utilize my public speaking skills, and use the resources available to me. …show more content…
I have been a part of FFA since my freshman year when I accidentally agreed to join the Floriculture CDE team. Ever since then, I was hooked. Every action you do, you are being watched by somebody; FFA is no exception. Throughout my four years in high school, I have competed in numerous events, held an officer position, presented, and attended state competitions. Each activity requires being a leader. As the Dublin FFA Vice President, I have been a leader because of my ability to be a team player, solve conflicts, act responsibility and communicate with my team what they need from

I adapted the role of the "stage mom," making sure every hair was curled to perfection and every prop was in its place, as well as ensuring their lines were memorized and their staging was proper. FFA is something that I love. I have been in a leadership position for the last three years as a class officer, Washington County Junior Livestock Association officer and FFA officer. I believe my purpose in life is to serve others. Leaders must serve the needs of others rather than their own desires. One reason I wish to run for district office is to serve the FFA and its members. Agriculture is the backbone of our country. FFA and Agricutlure offer the opportunity to serve others. In every thing I do I make sure that the job is done correctly amd thoroughly. If you choose me to hold an officer position I promise I will not let you down. My strongest leadership qualities include sympathy for others, perseverance, and motivation. When I see others in need of help, I am able to sympathize with them and I become motivated and driven to seek help for them. I persevere, and give my best effort until I feel I have done what I can. My leading by example inspires others to pitch in too, and together we can rise up to the cause. This can be seen in many famous instances of bravery and leadership, such as with Dian Fossey and her fight to end gorilla slaughter. These qualities are very important not only to be a good leader, but a good person as…

While I have been in FFA I have gained more leadership skills than I thought possible. I was president on my chapters opening and closing ceremonies team so I had to step up and be my fellow member’s leader. I had to make sure everyone was there for practice, we were always on topic, and that we were prepared for the contest. Before I joined FFA one of my greatest fears was public speaking, but I overcame that fear through a little hard work and determination and became our chapter’s creed speaker. Doing this career development event really helped me because I gained confidence in myself, leadership skills, and I even went on to place 5th in West Tennessee.…

FFA develops competent and assertive agricultural leadership. Premier leadership can be obtained through many activities hosted by the FFA. One way in particular, is by attending one of the leadership and growth conferences. During these conferences members go to workshops where they learn how to become better leaders, to make a difference, and to be successful throughout life. These are very fun and beneficial conferences that all members should take advantage of. FFA members are more likely to be employed than the average high school student (National FFA Organization 4). When local FFA advisor, Matt Petrowitz, was asked what FFA meant to him, he said, “FFA to me means an organization where everyone belongs and is about leadership and tradition” (Petrowitz). He is proof that premier leadership is gained through FFA…

I feel a sense of pride and it warms my heart when I show the other members what FFA can do for them. I was selected as my school's FFA chapter president at the end of my sophomore year. Being president showed me a whole new side to being an FFA member. It gave me more responsibility and purpose. Sometimes when going to chapter events as the president, I found myself losing track of time. I became so captivated with the work in my chapter because I wanted to make it better for the generation that will come next. I learned being part of FFA and being part of any program in my high school help me improve myself to help those around me. This one motive made me lose all sense of…
