I believe that the issues of benefit scroungers and inappropriate magazine articles, along with other factors, are to blame for making this society unfair. However, I feel strongly about the subject of magazine articles giving the wrong message to teenagers, both male and female. Teenagers are at a vulnerable age yet writers think they are able to give the ‘advice’ along with practically brainwashing them with images of people who are not a healthy size. 44% of teenage magazine articles are about dating or sex and 37% cover issues related to appearance, however only 12% of articles discuss topics linked to school. This proves that the media is biased to covering articles most likely to affect a teenagers mind. The articles published may cause girls or boys to become medically and mentally sick. Article writers give out the message- this is the way to be/become perfect and impress boys or girls. I strongly believe that this is not the right message to put out to teenagers. It puts it in their minds that they have to be a certain way for a person to like you. For a girl, the stereotype would be- wearing revealing clothes, big breasts, small waist, collarbones and a thigh gap. For boys it would be- big, muscular, abs and the ‘nice’ hair. For both genders this leaves a huge mental mark. A self-confident male or female would pass over this with disgust and be perfectly fine with their looks. Whereas, a less confident male or female would study the figure and imitate them by dressing like the model or eating less to have the model’s body,
