It could be argued that the Weimar Republic had recovered because of the Dawes plan. After hyperinflation in 1923 the economy was still very unstable. This meant that Germany had to borrow a lot of money from American in an attempt to stabilize the economy. As the economy now had enough money to pay France and Belgium, they left the Ruhr. Therefore, they were able to restart their industry. This meant many more people were employed and Germany was leading itself out of its economic depression. This meant the Weimar Republic significantly recovered because its economy stabilized.
However, the Weimar Republic had not fully recovered because they didn’t have everyone’s support. There were still many minority extremist groups that were rebelling against the government. The Nazi party got 2.8% of the votes in 1928 which meant over 1 person out of 50 supported them. This meant the government was not able to fully recover as there were still many people that didn’t support them.
The government was also not able to stage a full recovery because they depended so much on the government. Written in the Dawes plan, it stated that Germany would have to pay America back when they asked. This meant that if America asked for the money back, their economy would plunge straight back into economic depression.
