When I made it to my junior year, I thought I had already made my friends for life. I was not necessarily open to new relationships, and I was not overly social. I did all of the same things and did not bother branching out. Hannah Hennings and I first bonded on the night of homecoming. Neither of us had dates so we danced the night away and just had fun together. After that, Hannah and I started to hang out more and more, bonding even more through speech. In February of 2016, Hannah and I both participated in individual speech. She was participating in the poetry category, and I was participating in the prose category. We both helped each other in practice and gave each other tips to get better. Hannah made it all the way to All-State Speech with that …show more content…
piece, and I could not have been more proud. I went to support her in Cedar Falls, where it was hosted, and spent the whole day with her.
In March of 2016, our choir went on a trip to New York City. I was able to bond with Hannah in my favorite city over my favorite things. There are very few people that I can talk to about makeup, but Hannah is one of them. She and I had to have spent hours talking about different parts of makeup. She tweezed my eyebrows and I did her makeup on the bus. It was almost as if I had found my soulmate. I had never felt a connection with someone so easily. On this trip, we decided that we were going to be in the same prom group. She asked her friend Trevor to be her date, and I asked one of my oldest friends, Cody. We went along with our mutual friends, Zack and Bia, and had the time of our lives. It was the most fun I had had in awhile, and I did not know that you could create such an amazing group of people.
Hannah Hennings has helped me to open up to new people, open up to new experiences, and be more positive in my everyday life.
When I became friends with Hannah, I had two main people that I spent all of my time with. Now, with Hannah leading me in making new friends, I have an entire group of people that I can trust with anything. Hannah encourages me everyday to be positive and keep my head up, because there will always be a silver lining. Hannah pushes me to my limit, even when I think she should leave me alone. If I had not met Hannah, I am not sure that I would have tried out for the spring play last year, which turned out to be one of the greatest experiences of my whole
life.
I know that I am not the only one affected by Hannah’s beautiful positivity, and I can only hope that I can help her through her life. We often have long talks about our future plans, then slowly start to panic together because we realize we actually have no idea what we are doing. I offer her the best advice that I can and I know that she tries her best to return the favor. I would not be where I am in life if I did not have Hannah to hold my hand through the battles.
Out of all of the people in the world to choose as the most influential in my life thus far, I chose Hannah Hennings. She is such a positive light in my life and enlightens everyone she meets. My life took the best turn it possibly could have when Hannah Hennings became my best friend. I truly did not know what I was missing out on until I had it. She has affected my life in many ways and will continue to do so as we grow, learn, and rise together. As we move on through life, we will bloom into new, better people because we have each other to hold onto and keep us grounded. Life is always changing, but I hope my relationship with Hannah never will.
