Stefanie’s Allegiance

You’d like her, as I sit here thinking of the person whom I admire, I would have to say that person is my little sister. She is not only my sister but my best friend at the same time. She is a very important part of my life. I save my admiration for her because she is a special girl. I admire my sister because of her personality and for all she has done for me in my life. Why is Stefanie so admirable to me you ask? When I am sad about something, Stefanie is always there to comfort me and when she is happy so am I. Through the hardships of moving around when we were growing up, we only had eachother to rely on. As we were growing up, everything was beautiful, just she and I together. All of these years I’ve held her hand, every past memory I have of us lives within my heart. Despite our conflicts, I grew up with my sister and she has always been my best friend. This whole transition of becoming a high schooler Stefanie is experiencing has impressed me immensely. Watching her grow up into this extraordinarily young woman has brought me back reminiscing of our childhoods. Stefanie has many positive traits. Firstly, my sister has a lot of friends, because she is a friendly and sociable person. She is extrovert and funny. Secondly, she is very helpful and loving, if I am having a bad day she is always there to help make it better. That is why she has never failed me. Whenever I feel like giving up, or have a question or a concern, I know I can always call on her for advice. At the same time, she is very determined and knows what she wants. She is exceptionally ambitious and always reaches her goal. She is also a great leader not a follower. She enjoys when she is working with new people. The above description of her personality, only confirms that my sister is beautiful inside and out. She has always been a shining example in my life. I’m so proud of all the

Happiness, bliss, love, thrill, fear, heartbreak, but there's one word that stood strong beneath each of those, depression. It’s sad to think, that what everyone had failed to see was, that behind that smile of mine, was a darkness with so much depth it engulfed me. The only one who had ever known was the girl that was like a sister to me, Elena. We battled depression together for years, she was the one who won her battle…I did not. I couldn’t, it’d become the taunting, negative voice that kept me up every night and the one that’d scream at me everyday. The tears that’d stain my pillowcase and the reason I hid behind a mask since I’d been ten years old. Slowly everyday that truly happy girl everyone would know, became the happy girl everyone knew. Only if they had known, I couldn’t ever figure out why it’d cloud my thoughts, kill my happiness, and take complete control of my life. But no one would ever know, because I was able to go through those days with a smile so bright, no one would question if I was okay or not. The truth is I wasn’t, everything inside of me was tumbling down and…

Aisha and I met each other in the 5th grade when we were both placed at the back of the class. She is now a sophomore at Aspire Langston Hughes Academy. The reason I enjoy her character so much, is because how she goes against typical archetypes that writers tend to give a main character in this situation. Instead of being optimistic and tackling things head on, she only really cares about one thing and that is survival. While we as the reader see that she is a caring person to people close to her, she can come across as cold and distant to others. She finds peace in solitude which is something I can relate to. Throughout the course of the book and the entire trilogy as a whole she fundamentally does not change. Her main focus is survival and doesn’t not want to be the center of attention, which is something that is thrust upon her, whether she wants it or not. The reason she chose this is not for fame or glory, but a last ditch effort to protect her sister, even if it meant her life. She at this point in the story is forced to be outside her element, and try to keep the promise to her sister that she would be the winner of the…

She’s clever, hilarious, generous, kind, loving, intelligent, and has a strong moral compass. When I look at her, I see hope. Ultimately I see hope for me. While I often contemplate with envy the image of perfection I see in her, I have come to realize that her success story could be mine as well. She gives me an ideal to strive for. Unlike some role models, she is real, I know her well, and we have a shared history. I see her human flaws along with her perfection. In this way her level of success is not some unattainable ideal, but something that I know I have the ability to reach. Her success motivates me to work through my own issues in a way that other people’s success cannot.…

1.) First and foremost I admire my older sister Audrey Cotton, who is a perfect role model for me I would say. Olivia had ups and downs, days she struggled and days that went well, but in this moment she was one hundred percent enjoying this perfect moment. That was enough for her and it made it enough for me. Sometimes, previously, I had gotten frustrated when I needed help with homework or something did not go exactly as I planned. I had never imagined what it would be like to need help with everything such as eating, changing clothes, or even bathing. In that moment, I realized the wisdom and perspective behind her smile. Olivia and her family have found a way to appreciate the little things and recognize a new perfect and keep smiling. It showed me that every day there should be no reason not to appreciate what we have. My perspective is forever changed because of her. While I still aim for perfection, Olivia helped me realize it is important to live in the moment and realize that what I have is perfect…
