Respiratory Program Research Paper
Live, Love, Respiratory
Being in the Respiratory Therapy Program at Shelton State Community College has inspired me in more ways than I ever imagined it would. I have learned so much about the field of Respiratory and I have found myself living the dream. Being in school has brought many struggles and hard times into my life, but it has also brought positive and wonderful things all at the same time. My life is forever changed because of this program and I will be forever grateful for that.
I have thoroughly enjoyed everything about being in the respiratory program.
Even though I spent countless nights studying, shedding tears over the stress and heart aching over trying to get scholarships and money for tuition, I can still say that I am so proud that I chose

Another wonderful outcome is that I met one of my truest friends, Brittany. She and I have become closer than I could have ever imagined, she is definitely my “sister from another mister.” I am so blessed to have gained such a special friend through all of this, she has truly made this journey a better experience and I think God everyday for putting her in my life.
The first day of school, I was nervous just like any other day, but as the day went on I felt calm and that was the exact place I was meant to be. My favorite part about going to school was lab days. Not only because I was able to sleep in, but because I loved getting the hands on experience. Another one of my favorite things I enjoyed in the program was attending clinical. I was able to get a feel on how things worked and what being a Respiratory Therapist really means. I loved having actual patients and giving them treatments. I enjoyed being able to see the difference we made in each one of our patients.
I am in my last semester and I could not be more excited. I have learned so much and worked so hard to get where I am today. I would not have made it this

I dreaded the alarm that woke me up at 6:30 in the morning. It was as loud as a screaming toddler that could be heard for miles. I groggily got out of bed and got ready for my first day of school. It was a weird feeling not putting on a uniform like I had been for the past nine years, but I also enjoyed that freedom. The nervousness became more and more intense as I could closer and closer to campus. When we arrived, I got out of the car, and watched my dad drive off to go take my younger sister to school. There was no going back now; I had no other choice than to walk through those doors. I felt like my throat was in my stomach. I noticed some familiar faces, and I walked towards them. While I was approaching my friends, a senior, facing toward me, walked passed. He must have been at least six feet tall, which was incredibly intimidating for me at just over five feet. I was not used to the fact that I’d potentially have classes with these giants. Additionally, the array of new teachers, and having to learn all of their teaching styles and things they did or did not tolerate was hard in…

One day, while I was laying peacefully on my bed, my mother came in with a letter from Florida A&M University. I didn't really want to speculate anything because a few days before I received a letter from another college saying that I wasn't accepted. Nevertheless I was still excited when I opened it and even more so when I read that I had been accepted. So without much hesitation I packed up and headed to Tallahassee. When I arrived my mother and I took care of registration and a plethora of things you have to manage as a new student. After all the hassles of college registration were completed my mother departed for home and I was left by myself to attend college. What a great feeling! Little did I know what I had on store for the next day, my first in college.…

It was my first day. I took a deep breath and walked in the door with a fear of being embarrassed and frustrated. The smell of french toast and egg omelettes for breakfast. I grabbed an ice cold water from the cafeteria and headed to my first class. Kids of all grades were scattered right and left in the halls. Students struggling to open their lockers. Teachers rushed to get their work ready before the students arrived for class. Everything was very hectic and way more different than middle school.…
