When I was a child, I was very shy. I didn't like talking to other people, or even being around others for long periods of time because it made me very nervous. My parents signed me up for theater to force me out of my comfort zone, and I fell in love. I became the person who I am today, a confident, energetic social butterfly, because I was exposed to something new that made me grow as a human being. Even though people can grow to become experts in a specific field, if they don't step outside of their comfort zone, they will never grow as a person because growing as a person involves trying new things and taking risks. Hillary did not let NASA's policies inhibit her personal growth, and this drove her to try new things, such as politics. This led to the creation of the person we know her to be today. If she had stayed on trying to become an expert in space or aerospace engineering, it is likely that she wouldn't have been nearly as successful as she is today, and she would never have discovered the ambitious, political side of herself that is an integral part of who she has become. Her perseverance and determination led to her taking risks and trying new things, creating the personal growth she needed to achieve her goals. Taking risks is also a big factor pertaining to personal growth. Sticking with one familiar area for the entirety of one's life leads to stagnation and failure, because if a person does not take risks and try new things, a person cannot truly know who they are and what they are capable of. For instance, take Earnest Hemingway. He was a reporter and a famous author in the 1920s, part of the Lost Generation. He was comfortable as a reporter for a major newspaper in Kansas city, on his way to becoming a well-paid reporter or editor. Yet, Hemingway left for Paris to pursue writing, and thanks to his risk he became one of the most famous American
