“Born in El Paso, Texas, on March 26, 1930, Sandra Day O'Connor was elected to two terms in the Arizona state senate. In 1981, Ronald Reagan nominated her to the U.S. Supreme Court. She received unanimous Senate approval, and made history as the first woman justice to serve on the nation's highest court. O'Connor was a key swing vote in many important cases, including the upholding of Roe v. Wade. She retired in 2006 after serving for 24 years”. O’Connor was the first woman United States Supreme Court Justice, serving from 1981 to 2006. In the year 2009, she was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom.…
While I can not attended this event because I am away at school I urge all people who are in the Chicago-land area to consider attending. Betsy DeVos is Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Education. Her goal is to use taxpayers money to fund charter schools and vouchers for private/religious schooling. We have seen in the past that vouchers (while a good idea in theory) do not work. As for using taxpayers money to fund religious schooling—- it is a direct violation of separation of church and state. DeVos has “cloaked” her ideas of privatization of the education system by saying that parents should “choice” where their children go to school—this is a luxury not all families will get. It is my belief that DeVos will cause great damage to public…
The campaign of freshman Senator Ted Cruz has announced that it made an impressive donations haul since he announced that he was running for president. Touting his connection to grassroots voters, the senator also downplayed the role that big money donors have played in funding his campaign. Overall, the campaign has received $14 million in three months, a sum that gives his campaign enough money to go up against fundraising juggernaut and front runner Jeb Bush.…
Betsy Devos, Secretary of Education, has a plan to reform education and the school system as we know it. She is for School of Choice, also she wants to implement a system in which student are able to choose what school they want to go too. The states that if they leave their public federally funded schools their dollars would go with them to their next schools. She is for public charter schools to be fully federally funded.…
Nicki Minaj went on saying about the former first lady, "But I think that Hillary Clinton uses that and turns it into a strength. Because that's what I've always done. And so I love Hillary Clinton for sticking it out. She has gone through horrifying things, even within her marriage. She has been brave and weathered the storm. And continued being a boss. That's something that every woman should feel inspired by, no matter if you're voting for her or…
After coding all the candidates of the Republican National Debate, Governor Kasich stood out because his number of acclaims varied greatly from the number of times he attacked and defended himself during the debates. This is most likely due to the fact that his standing was last amongst all the candidates taking part in the debate. Because he held the lowest standing amongst all the candidates, many of the candidates did not bother to attack him so he did not need to defend himself as often as the others. He did not attack his opponents because his focus needed to be in bringing himself up in the ranks as opposed to just bringing the others down. According to Benoit's Functional Theory, this is because attacks can often times create an undesirable impression that the candidate is reactive rather than proactive (Glantz, 277, 2013).…
Mitt Romney is running for President again. Though technically unannounced, the news effectively became public last on the 16th of this month, when Romney just happened to let it slip that he was “seriously considering” another campaign, having said previously that he would make a decision within “weeks, not months.” When a US politician purports to be “considering” a run, it usually means they’ve already started buying up White House-width curtain rails.…
Hillary Clinton uses her emotional appeal (pathos) by trying to persuade her audience that she has a good heart and that she really does actually care about our country. Majority of that time that she spoke she used the word “We”. This make you feel as if everybody acts as one and that everyone is united together. “What kind of country “(we)” want to be”, “what kind of future “(we’ll)” build”, ““(we)” have to build an economy”, and ““(we)” need new jobs” were all things that came from out of Hillary’s mouth during this debate. She also tries to show her caring emotions by going on to say she knows the difficult choices that people have to face and the stress that it put people under. This gives the people that feeling of someone who understands…
Hillary Clinton was the first lady and the Secretary of State. In 2008 she tried to become a potential candidate for the president of the United States and she lost to former senator Barack Obama because as former senator Obama pointed out to Mrs.Clinton during one of their debates that she would be the type of opponent that Republicans would love to run against due to past political choices and her views on certain subjects. Currently she is campaigning again to become the first female president of the United States and once again another scandal has followed her in her political pursuits. A potential presidential candidate can have their flaws when it comes to their policies and political views on how the country itself should be led. Hillary Clinton is the type of politician who will change her views or stances on certain issues if it will get her the votes that she wants. She has her own agendas and that's to satisfy her wealthy donors who give her the money that she needs for her campaign.…
Presidency is a strong idea in America. It elects our highest executive leader, the president. A good strong, experienced president is a viable resource. Just to be clear, a president should be experienced in someway . They should first occupied a spot in government such as a governor or senator. They will have a voice and understanding in politics, know about foreign policies and politics, and they will know their way around the government. Think about, who would want a presidential candidate without any political experience or would they? As history has shown, freshness has ruled. Even today, presidential candidate Donald Trump is winning. He has no political experience, however he has considered by New York Republicans to be governor in October 2013, but he never ran. This is the most controversial question in politics, maybe. Should amateurs be allowed in the oval office?…
The president is more than unconstitutional, he is uncontrollable, too. President Obama is uncontrollable in his actions when illegal decisions are made more than once regarding Obamacare and when a large part of our government system is being questioned due to his disregard for the law. Obama went too far to get what he wanted. Checks and balances aren’t being taken seriously, if he can get away with it, so can everyone else. Obama unconstitutionally delayed the caps on payments without approval from Congress. He is uncontrollable and imperial because he shows with these examples that he thinks he can just go around Congress more than once regarding only one piece of legislation…
Five reasons to vote for her : She's experienced boasts an impressive resume. She's worked in neighborhoods. She's worked in Congress, and the White House. And she's worked in foreign affairs. That makes her the candidate most qualified to run the country. As a lawyer, she helped investigate President Richard Nixon. She's pro-immigrant. Clinton supports comprehensive immigration reform that would allow law-abiding immigrants to more easily become naturalized citizens. Clinton wants to deport individuals who pose a threat to American safety. She is in favor of giving refugees seeking asylum a fair chance. She wants to build on the Affordable Care Act. Clinton said at a debate this month that she believes President Barack Obama's health care…
Hillary Clinton is an exceptional example of what good character looks like, this statement is clearly wrong and should never be stated again. The key points that will be discussed in this argumentative essay will be: Helping people will change their mood and cause them to do good, some people never stop trying to better the lives of others, and character does not actually matter in today’s society. The thesis of this paper is as follows: character matters and has an impact on society. The first point in this paper will be that helping people will change their mood and cause them to do good.…
