How Is Imperialism Relevant Today

During the 19th and 20th century imperialism plays a major role in today's society because of the constructive impacts that it created. Imperialism dominated throughout the world, and it started off with the western European countries such as Britain, France, Italy, Portugal, and Germany. The European countries took over continents of Africa and Asia which include, India, China, and Japan. The exclusive procedures of imperialism provoke empires to try to enlarge their rule over different countries and regions to gain more dominance. These procedures incorporate economic, exploratory, political, and religious motives. To differentiate each territory, Africa seemed to be the “Dark Continent”, this is because the white western Europeans were pretty harsh on the Africans. Most of the African did not enjoy what the Europeans were doing to them. Although there were detrimental effects such as, many people died from diseases, lost their land along with their freedom, the
First and foremost, Africa had a deadly disease called Malaria. Since many people died from this disease, missionaries and doctors were able to discover new medicines to cure it. This is beneficial to today’s world because it would be hard for all of us to live if we were not able to resolve diseases.
