Let’s begin with the Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth. He had decided to host King Duncan for a night and I know that Duncan agreed. I don’t think Lady Macbeth is involved because she is a woman and could never have pulled off such a horrible thing. I can’t suspect the guards because they don’t have a motive for killing Duncan; they are being fed, paid and given shelter. Macbeth has obviously been here all night and probably didn’t leave his castle. Macbeth is low in the line for being king and after seeing him rise form Thane of Glamis to Cawdor I don’t underestimate his ambition to gain more power, “He bade me, from him, (King Duncan) call thee Thane of Cawdor.”(1.3.110) Having Duncan over at Macbeth’s castle would be a perfect opportunity to kill him because no one would expect anything. Another thing I noticed about Malcolm and Donalbain was that after they realized their father was dead they didn’t seem to be as distraught as I anticipated. I also overheard them talking about fleeing Scotland which seems a little suspicious, “To Ireland I. Our separated fortune Shall keep us both the safer.” (2.4.163-164) The two of them fleeing is suspicious because they didn’t stay for long after their father died and I feel like they might be trying to hide. I now have to take all my observations into account and figure out who I think killed my
