Ronald Wilson Reagan was our 40th president of the United States. Born February 6, 1911 in Tampico Illinois, and died June 5, 2004 in Bel-Air Los Angeles California. Reagan was married twice with four children. The first marriage was to Jane Wyman from 1940 to 1949, with two children Maureen and Michael. The second marriage was to Nancy Davis from 1952 to 2004, also with two children Patricia Ann and Ronald Prescott.
Ronald Reagan was an actor as well as a politician. A screen test in 1937 won Reagan a contract in Hollywood, which the next two decades Reagan appeared in 53 films. Reagan embroiled in disputes over the issues of communism in the film industry; Reagan's political views changed from liberal to conservative. Ronald toured the country as a television host, which lead him to be a spokesman for conservatism. Also both of Reagan's wives were actresses as well.
Reagan's main goal was achieving "peace through strength". At the end of Reagan's two terms in office, he felt he fulfilled his campaign pledge of 1980 to restore " The great, confident roar of American progress and growth and optimism". By ordering naval escorts in the Persian Gulf, he maintained the free flow of oil during the Iran-Iraq War. In keeping with the Reagan Doctrine, he gave support to anti-communist insurgencies in Central America, Asia and Africa.
