How Jimmy Changed My Life
Jimmy changed forever today. He had darkness around him and it was as dark as a person getting disturbing revelations. Because Jimmy was not prepared for today, the day was more depressing. Jimmy's thought about old people's value in society drastically changed today.

Jimmy walked to his hotel bedroom, and he felt exhausted. The floor was squeaky and loud. In addition, the ceiling looked as though it was ready to confess its sins because of how menacing it looked.

Just about to open his room, Jimmy got scared by a clown behind him. The clown looked old, and smiled creepily at Jimmy. Scared, Jimmy ran towards the stairs, but slipped over a banana peel and fell down the staircase harder than a moose getting hit by a car.

Jimmy's fall was unbelievable. Just before Jimmy fell down the stairs, his phone fell out of his pocket and the clown caught it. Because Jimmy fell down the stairs, his pain was extreme. Also, Jimmy, at the bottom of the stairs noticed the clown, who was on top of the staircase, accidently drop a drop of a drug called Shiva 49, and it landed into Jimmy's mouth. Jimmy passed out harder than a man head-butting him in the head.

The environment of the world also played an important role on Tom’s perceptions and attitudes. In the first few chapters demonstrates Tom’s attitude towards his new environment in particular, his negativity towards his grandmother’s house and his family, as he knows things will never be the same. This is evident when Tom says metaphorically, “I was sucked deeper into that long black tunnel. Knowing more than anything I’d ever know that things would never be the same.” Additionally, the past foretold by Tom’s flashbacks illustrates how he missed the “good ol’ days”.…

For example at the beginning of the novel Johnny was afraid, this is shown by the quote "Johnny was scared of his own shadow after that" [Pg 4]. Johnny was always afraid because of his experiences with his parents & the socs. The quote also indicates that he needs to stand up for himself to deal with the people in his life. Another example of change is how Johnny is extremely quiet at the start of the book this is shown by "I knew Johnny wouldn't open his mouth unless he was forced to."[Pg 14] This furthers Johnny's quietness because it demonstrates that he never opens his mouth unless it is absolutely necessary.…

While Jacob was in the car, he started to have visual hallucinations. He saw the hitchhiker do things that were just in his mind. While Jacob was in the backseat alone with the hitchhiker, he saw that the hitchhiker’s hand slid into his jacket and curled around something underneath the material[...] a knife. A moment later his hand reappeared and [Jacob] caught the glint of silver” (Horowitz 236). Jacob actually believed that the hitchhiker wanted to stab him with a knife. Jacob thought that the silver object in the hitchhiker’s pocket was a knife, even though the whole experience was just in his head. The hitchhiker never had a knife, and never wanted to stab Jacob. The novel The Orenda by Joseph Boyden follows the lives of three different characters at the point of first contact between the Europeans and Native Americans. The story follows Bird, a Huron war-chief, Christophe “Crow”, a Jesuit priest, and Snow Falls, an imprisoned Iroquois forced to live amongst the Huron. During the main events of The Orenda, two groups of Huron join for the Creator’s Game. The portrayal of the Creator’s Game, now known as lacrosse, is shown through the purpose of the game, the equipment used, and the rules. The purpose of the game is to honour the Sky Woman, practice for war, and to unite groups. In The Orenda, the equipment used was netted sticks and wooden posts. The Orenda mentions the rules of the game, such that there is no standard arena, upwards of five players on each team, and no contact rules. Though The Orenda is generally historically accurate, there are a few differences between the book and the historical game of lacrosse, namely the ball used and the groups of Native Americans that played the Creator's Game. As such, The Orenda portrays an overall historically accurate version of lacrosse, with minor differences between the book’s depiction and historical facts.…

Transcendentalist View of Bartleby the Scrivener Actions The Transcendentalists and the Dark Romantics were the two major literary groups of America's literary coming of age. The transcendentalists believed in transcending everyday, physical human experiences and objects, in order to determine the reality of God, the universe, and the self. Transcendentalists, led by Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, believed in the good of man, and held a very optimistic view of the world and mankind. This directly clashed with the Dark Romantics; they felt that everything had a darker, more evil side, and the depravity of man. Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edgar Allen Poe, and Herman Melville were the leading men of the Dark Romantics. Although both sides shared the same Romantic beliefs, they differed greatly on their views of the goodness of man. This clash in belief results in distinguishable differences in the texts of both sides, yet each one can be applied to the other. Bartleby, of Bartleby the Scrivener, exhibited many transcendental qualities and the l results of those beliefs; therefore, the Transcendentalists would view Bartleby as one of their own kind.…
