The founding of the first founding abolitionist societies was Benjamin Rush and Benjamin Franklin. They wanted to stop slavery from being spreaded into further territories into the U.S.. Once that was achieved there was a beginning of free states, that allowed slaves to become free and ended racial segregation. That and many more reason was the leading reason of the Civil War. The movement of free slaves also encouraged women to have equal rights, that can create leaders such as Sojourner Truth, an African American
women, who was once a slave, gave out motivational speeches. In 1787, the Northwest Ordinance was considered one of the most important acts of Conference at the time. They would protect civil rights and, do so such as banned slavery among the new territories. It would also cause problems. The Ohio River is what seperated the slave states from the free states. Slaves would run away and cross the Ohio River and gain freedom. It would also lead toward the Civil War.
Born a slave, Harriet Tubman, was a tremendous leader and a brilliant conductor during the underground railroad rising. She began freeing her family, then made 19 separate trips. She would end up freeing almost 300 slaves. Just like Harriet Tubman, the book, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, had slaves leading into free-states and abolition throughout the film/book. People would help this family reach across the Ohio river and would do so. Also, Chloe and Cassie would gain freedom after the owner would become sorrowing, drunk for causing the other slaves to wip Tom almost to death.
That contain all of the information during the Abolition Act in the 1700s. It had Pros and Cons in the Act, that would affect the world of today. While the horrific time of slavery, it would soon end and cause slaves to become free and would also lead to the Civil War, which the North would win and cause slave states to become free states.
