After this terrorist attack exploited many of our weaknesses as a country, hundreds of billions of dollars spent to improve security and strength for our country's military defenses and commercial airlines. “There has not been a large-scale terror attack on the United States since 9/11. There have, however, been some foiled attacks -- the attempted bombing in Times Square last year, for instance, or the attempted Christmas Day 2009 bombing on a flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Detroit (Hayes). America has clamped down on stopping this incidents from occurring in many different ways. The nations securities and intelligence capabilities are much stronger than they have ever been. We have branched out to multiple other countries receiving and sharing information to learn about our enemies and make allied countries in the process. “At the time of the 9/11 attack there were 16 people on the no fly zone, now there are hundreds of individuals that cannot step foot on an airplane not to mention that the security for the average person to get on an airline has increased exponentially” (Hayes). Some people in our nation believe that this terrorist attack has been the major reason for the division of our country as we have seen lots of racial profiling on certain airlines. “People of different races and religions consoled one another at candlelight vigils to express their feelings and prayers to those who fell to this terrorist attack”(Petrecca). This quote shows how the majority of our nation has responded to this false sense of division. “We're never safe. The question is, are we moving in the right direction? Our country will never be perfect, no country ever will but this quote shows us that the our nation as a whole is close to overall unity. “And a charity called Muslims Against Homeless spent the day making and distributing 1,300 meals to homeless people in New Jersey and Manhattan”(Geohegan). Muslim Americans have come together with others to create a program that helps those in need who were affected by the tragedy of 9/11. “But in a show of unity, and following a plea from President Barack Obama for Americans to use the anniversary to do acts of service, it has thrown open its doors and about 40 volunteers from places as diverse as Scotland, Sudan and Kansas have helped to give the place a makeover”(Geoghegan).
