had met last Christmas with my truly Canadian friends that mean they did it for every Christmas for generations. Unbelievably, it was my first time when I tried a turkey which tasted just great, ate a rice pudding with an almond, and listened to a story from a book which was red by members of the family. Surprisingly, this particular book has been red by this family for ages but everyone enjoyed it like first time. That was a fascinating experience, one of the best Christmas I have ever had abroad. On the other hand, at home, we have slightly different style of celebrating Christmas.
It is always on January 6th after the New Year celebrating. For the average Ukrainian, I believe, this day has unique features, such as special songs and visits friends and relatives in the morning time. Usually children are more excited and involved in these actions because of the rewards they got after singing and saying ritual sentences. Similarly, all the members of the family are gathering together and some food the same; however, you will not find the turkey on the table and chiefly all the others dishes are related to traditional food which is different in Ukraine compare to Canadian food. After praying we are enjoying food and time together. To sum up, it does not matter where to meet this significant day, mainly the best thing to do is would be with your family or close friends. I was very lucky to meet Christmas twice, there were lots of food and a good people surrounded me, so I did not feel homesick so sharp as it might be without their support. I wish a Merry Christmas for
everyone.
