I would like to take the opportunity to be a link crew leader because of how the Link Crew affected me as a freshman. Not only did they answer any questions we had, but also as a sophomore I still find myself referring back to my link leaders. The feeling of knowing someone around you when you are in a sea of strangers is not only a helpful resource but also reassuring. My freshman year I learned that the link leaders obtain some very special qualities. Link leaders are fun, outgoing, determined, and consistent people and I believe I also have these characteristics. I realized that I didn't need to be popular. I am happy with my life just the way it is. I know who my friends are and it isn't those people. I realized I wanted to do it to become something I am not. I learned that day I should never lose my integrity. Someone once said, “Thoughts become words, words become actions, actions become character, character is everything." I didn't want to become that person I would have if I said yes. I wish I knew as a freshman to get involved more. When you are involved, it will help you in the long run, especially for college. Plus it is a great way to meet new people.
