How To Show Jumping

Jennifer’s dream was to qualify for the Rio olympics on her grand horse Jet. Her horse had been injured in the months before. He had an abscess in his right hoof but it shouldn’t have prevented him from jumping. Her horse name was Jet . Her name was Jennifer. She loved riding horses and that’s all she wanted to do with rest of her life. She had been riding since she was four years old. She started out riding a miniature pony named simon. Simon was twelve hands and Jet was seventeen hands tall. Jet was built super stocky and it was perfect for cross country. He was trained in Ireland but they brought him to the US to qualify for Olympic trials. Jennifer was born in raised in the US and she wanted to qualify for the Rio Olympics for the US
A three day event includes a show jumping course, a dressage test, and a cross country course. Show jumping is in an arena and there are jumps made of wood that fall down when the horse knocks them down. Dressage is when you are in a small arena and you are trying to show how the rider and the horse can work together well. Cross Country is in the wood and there are jumps that don’t fall when the horse hits them. Cross country can be very dangerous for the rider and the horse. If the horse hits the jump and the horse falls over, it could break it’s leg and then it would have to be put down. If the rider falls off and gets stepped on, it could be fatal. When she saw the oxer with the brush on top she started panicking. An oxer is a jump that has width. This oxer was shaped like a table it had tons of moss, grass and plants on top. They did this to test your horse if they would spook at the jump. He was a pretty spooky horse any way and he was definitely still a little injured and it was cold. She knew that he would always try to jump the jump and not duck out. A lot of horses run or duck away from a jump they don’t want to jump. This is an awful habit that a lot of horses have but any horse at this level that still ducks out, shouldn’t be
