A theme that shows the important idea of friendship is the one where Hiccup and toothless are in the little enclosure type place and Hiccup is drawing in the sand, then toothless comes along and sees that he is drawing him so he picks up along and starts drawing something for Hiccup. Then Hiccup touches toothless’ nose. This shows the symbolism of friendship when Hiccup touches toothless’ nose, and toothless lets him showing trust between the two and showing a bond between the pair. The technique shown is a mid-shot showing Hiccup touching toothless’ nose and all the happy and affectionate music in the background and the pink and gold background makes the mood seem more magical. This scene made me realise that you need to be able to trust each other in order to have a good friendship.
Another idea that shows Friendship is the scene where Toothless comes to the rescue of Hiccup when he’s in the dragon arena fighting the monstrous nightmare. This scene shows the idea of friendship because Toothless was fine on risking his own life to save Hiccups. A Film technique showing how they were friends was when they were in the arena and toothless was about to shoot Stoick, but Hiccup tells him not to so he doesn’t and lets himself get caught while the camera was going in between the two as close ups of their faces where it showed their emotions. This scene made me realise that friends will always be there for us.
