their friendship so great. “We got someone who gives a damn about us” (Steinbeck 115). Because they took care of each other no matter how hard it got proves that they are one of the greatest duos ever. To be friends especially good ones you need to support and strive each other to do their and reach their dream. Their dream was the same to have their own little place and not have to worry about everything. “An’ live off the fatta of the land” (Steinbeck 119). Even after something didn’t go their way or someone did something wrong they still wanted each other to do good. “I have done another bad thing, it don’t make a difference” (Steinbeck 103). Even when things didn’t go their way they still had a little story or they talked about their dream when things just weren’t going their way. “No you tell it George it …. it aint the same if I tell it” (Steinbeck 13). Even through the good and the bad times, and no matter how bad of the time George and Lennie were still there for each other which made them the ultimate friends. Sometimes you do things that you normally wouldn’t do for the person that is close to you and George did plenty of that with Lennie.
George could of done a lot of different things with his life but he watches after Lennie so he does the same thing all the time because of Lennie but he makes that sacrifice because he is close to him. “When I think of the swell time I could have without you I’d have peace” (Steinbeck 11). You sometimes can’t always have the thing you want likes when Lennie wanted ketchup with his beans but he didn’t have ketchup and if they did Lennie would have gave it to George. “If it was here you could have some” (Steinbeck 12). Another thing that people do is that they sacrifice their time or happiness so someone else would be happy. Like how George would stay and work at the place so that Lennie could go and start up their little place and he would work for the money that they still needed to pay for it. “You and Lennie could get her started an’ I’d get a job an’ make up the rest” (Steinbeck 60). This is how making sacrifices and giving for someone else can make the biggest
friends. This is why I believe if you take care of one another, strive for something great and support them to strive for greatness, and make sacrifices for each other will make the best of friends. Friendship is something that we all strive for and George and Lennie have that thing that everyone wants and by doing those things that is what made them the best of buds.
