I say this because the way George talks of Lennie in previous situations it seems like he might of been a bit reckless in the sense of whatever popped into his mind at the time he would do it. For example he felt like touching the girl's red dress and he did because it was all he was thinking of. But when she squirmed and shrieked the first thought that popped into his mind was to hold onto her so then he did that as well making the situation even worse. Because Lennie is one of the more sensitive characters in this book it makes him more susceptible to understanding what needs to be done differently that way nothing happens again and George will not scold him. This means that he could potentially change a few more times throughout the last few chapters. Because Lennie and George got a new start due to their new job and Lennie has been more responsible as to what he says and does this has allowed other people's thoughts towards him to be more open, excluding Curly. For example because George explained what happened in Weed and how he met Lennie Slim, has a better understanding of how Lennie acts and why he might do some of the things he does. Luckily enough Slim recognizes Lennie as a nice guy. Because he is becoming more mindful this new trait is definitely affecting Lennie in a positive way because now they will most likely be able to keep their jobs
