Objective: The focus of today’s session was the client’s anxiety and stress regarding leaving for college which is an out of state school. The client explained her anxiety regarding informing her parents of her anxiety regarding leaving the home and the stress which stems from worrying about keeping her grades up and working.
Analysis/Assessment: I found the client have suffered from anxiety in the past and was never probably treated for her anxiety. The client believes she will be able to handle this situation because she was able to handle it in the past. I will address previous coping skills and other strategies the client may have used in the past and assess the affectiveness of these coping skills and strategies.
Plans: I suggested the client evaluate her previous strategies and work on developing new coping skills because she will be in a new environment far away from family support. Long term I …show more content…
Her reluctance to finish her thought while explaining her reasoning for not talking to her parents regarding her concerns of going out of state for college. Christine explained she did not want to talk to her parents about her situation because of the fear they would worry to much about her. I worked with Christine regarding her concerns and feeling by evaluating and processing those feelings. For homework I asked Christine to develop a list of coping skills and strategies she feel could help her deal with the stress and anxiety. I also reccommed she speak to her parents because they could be used as a support system for her. We will review are list and process the conversation she had with her parents during the next
