• ETHOS. The video showed members of the rescue team (911) trying to save victims from the accidents. The source of the video can also be considered credible and knowledgeable since it shows an actual video recording of the accident.
• PATHOS. This video describes how the emotional situation is through the voices of worried and crying families/friends, which were heard in the beginning of the video
• LOGOS. It showed statistic results regarding accidents connected to texting while driving. It also shows the messages convincing the parents to talk to their teen …show more content…
kids and tell them that distracted driving is as dangerous as drinking and driving.
Although there is no speaker or narrator in this video, the message was successfully sent to its viewers through the use of ethos, pathos and logos persuasive approach. The actual videos, the voices of people crying in the background, as well as the intro message “texting and driving kills someone we love everyday”, are very powerful and credible to persuade people to realize that distracted driving is dangerous and can kill the people we love. I like this video because everything is well presented except that the statistics should be emphasized more.
On the third video, “Texting & Driving: It Can Wait”, the ethos, logos, and pathos persuasive approach were used through the following way:
• ETHOS.
The video seems credible because at the end part, the name of the researchers, photographers and other people who made this video were posted as well as the reference sites.
• PATHOS. It touches the emotions of the viewers by showing photos of the people who died in the car accident due to texting while driving. The statement “Was the message that important?” is a powerful question that will make the viewer’s think that life is more important than any text messages.
• LOGOS. The survey statistics shown and pictures of actual incidents were enough proof that texting while driving is really dangerous and yet there are still some people who still do it anyway.
What I like most in this video is the use of pathos through the photos of the people who died from the car accident and the question at the end, “Was the message that important?”, because these are the scene that catches my attention and touched my feelings. I find it easier to convey the message that texting can wait because lives are more important. What I dislike about this video is that it failed to establish the trustworthiness of the people who did this video because it lacks information about them and how are they connected to the
situations.
