Almost everyone knows the myths of the gods and goddesses like Zeus, Hermes, Ares and Hades. While most of these are considered great heros and role models, Hades is disliked by most seemings as he is seen as an evil figure. Although Hades is known as the master of the underworld, he is still an olympian. He is son of Cronus and Rhea, husband of Persephone, and lord of the dead. He fought with his brothers, Zeus and Poseidon, to decide which part of the world each would rule. Poseidon received sea, Zeus the skies, and Hades the underworld. He was the only god not to reside on Mount Olympus, instead settling in a dark place beneath the earth. Hades is disliked by most seemings as to them he is just another representation of death. Not only is he god of the dead, but he is also known as god of death. Hades is mirthless and cold hearted. As lord of the dead, he was a god to be feared and kept at distance by others. He is described by some as pitiless, loathsome and monstrous.
He kidnapped Persephone and forced her to join home in the underworld. Hades and Persephone later got married. At first it was said that Persephone hater Hades and was miserable in the underworld. It was later stated that eventually, after much time, Persephone learned to love the evil, mean, cold hearted Hades.
Although Hades is disliked by most, he is still an olympian who we all know. I don’t agree with all he has done, but I still want his story to continue to be spread throughout the next generations. This is because I believe, even though he’s lord of the dead, he still controls and maintains the underworld. Without him who knows what would’ve happened to Mount Olympus.
